easiest way to replace rag joint (aka steering coupler)

  1. on 64-66 cars the steering column is not collapsible and I'm wondering what the easiest way is to replace the rag joint. mine is very bad. seems like unbolting the steering box might be less work that the steering column but I figured somebody here knows the best way and could steer me in the right direction.

  3. 67 and later cars have a collapsible steering column, very easy to replace rag joint in those cars.

I unbolted the steering box on mine to remove rag joint. Wasn't exactly easy, but worked. I took mine apart to get better access to remove suspension parts.

I too removed the steering box for better access but also to have Hector rebuild the box. No problem removing.
