Just purchased this carb with a parts lot i bought and want to remove my 2 barrel and replace it with this. My question being does anyone have familiarity running this carb on your buick 350 and if so what is the best jets, rod and springs combination to get the most out of it? Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated.:TU:

did not run a 1406 on a 350 , did have a 625 carter on one . ran pretty good . back n forth to work street car only .
how are ya driving the car ? most on here will recommend at least a 750 ( q-jet ) and i think that is probably the optimum way to go - but - if ya got the 1406 maybe try i out . that's how ya learn .
the 1406 is the electric choke model and is set up more for economy . the 1405 is the manual choke 600 and set more for performance . just redid a 1405 . that had 100 front jets , 95 rear jets , 70x47 rods , black rod springs , 28 pump nozzle . those are edelbrock spec parts . i can look up the 1406 spec parts if needed . i would say try as is maybe and if you think you may need a little more out of it try the 1405 spec parts . I usually get by with a 1472 gasket kit , 1470 pump assy , check the needle and seat assy's over good , give it a real good bath n flush . careful taking out jets , they'll be stuck in there pretty good sometimes , use the biggest screwdriver that fits for full contact and i usually soak em a little and "tap" them . if that does not work its drill n tap time . if some of the other parts look kinda funky you may need to spring for full kit . i usually start out with the pump rod in middle slot of arm - up one will give you more of a gas shot , down will be less . check and make sure floats are not leaking - heavy , sloshing liquid inside . pay careful attention to things as you take it apart , see how it functions .
and if factory cast intake you'll need an adapter . i would recommend the 4 hole style .
    that's it . breakfast time !
edit : they need an edebrock section ( or modify the carter to carter/edelbrock ) . maybe you should move this over to the carter section so it does not get lost in the shuffle later ?

Now thats a reply. Most appreciated. Read somewhere that the 1405 specs were an option just looking to get a little more info on which direction i should lean. I got the carb dirt cheap so im going to use it. Thanks again and enjoy your breakfast!!!

got your PM . here's some edelbrock info for ya :
1472 - basic gaskets only kit
1477 - gaskets and needle n seats and other hard parts type kit .
1470 - pump assembly ( 1477 kit has pump parts not complete pump )
    1469 - float kit ( pair )
1479 - 1405/600 tune kit , metering rod and jet assortment for 1405
    1464 - step/rod spring assortment
    1426 - pair .095 jets
    1428 - pair .100 jets
dbl check my info ! - can go to edelbrock , jegs or summit web sites and look around for info and pricing etc .
summit - $100 order = free shipping ( easier return policy , web is easier to navigate - my opinion only )
    jegs - $30 order = free shipping
can also maybe order from local advanced etc style stores - but have your part numbers figured out ahead of time and watch your shipping charges etc .
