43 years ago yesterday she went down. A young guy (23) from St. Joseph Michigan was on board that night. Gales do occur quickly and often without warning this time of year on the great lakes. Regards, Upstaged in SW Michigan

"Our rails are awash", and "We're holding our own, going along like an old shoe."... Last radio transmission between the FITZ Capt. Ernest McSorely to Capt. Jesse Cooper on the ARTHUR ANDERSON. ws

We were the train crew waiting for the Fitz on Whiskey Island Iron Ore Dock Cleveland,Ohio on that day!
We were told she was delayed and we could go home !.....then a couple days alter we heard of the sinking.
We had been aboard her many times feasting on the Galley delights.

I didn't realize that the Fitz went down on veterans' day.

I wonder how many of our cars raw iron came over on that ship over the years?

Does anyone know where the Love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours
