Hello, I'm working on bringing an old family project back to life. I see photos on the internet of many different styles of rims and tires fitted to the '69 Skylark. The car came to me with Cragar 14 inch rims. I'm researching different looks that others have done on their cars. What I'm interested in knowing, is how they achieved these appearances. One example is shown here. What would it take to achieve the stance these two have, with what size tire and rims? What sort of suspension option? It seems to me that the rear wheel well may severely restrict options. I here that shock set ups can affect options as well. I have no knowledge in this realm so be kind and educate me please. Other photos of options and examples with detail are welcome. I have yet to settle on the look I am officially after. Thanks in advance.

Wheel back spacing is VERY important especially on the 68-69 cars. They have less room in the wheel well than the 70-72 cars. I have 15x7 wheels on mine. 225/70 on front and 255/70 on rear. I had 235/60/15's on prior (in picture).
15x7's, okay guys thanks for the info. Those fill the wells nice. Has anyone tried anything different?
17x7's on mine, 45 series tires if I recall correctly. 2 inch drop coils in front, 1 inch in back, from opgi.com.
Both those cars look like they have 18" rims on front and 20" rims on back, and I'm going to guess a 2" drop or so. You can fit whatever diameter wheel you'd like to, just so long as the outside diameter of the tire remains the same or close to the same as stock (you can fit bigger or smaller tires, obviously, but not too far on most cars). I've had 20x10 and 20x8.5 rims on something that came with 15x6 stock, and the car was lowered over 3". Do your measuring, do your math, and you can probably get the exact look you're after.

There are questions to ask yourself also. What is the goal for the car? Performance vs. looks vs. $$, etc. If you want the old school look and performance doesn't matter so much, the 15s or 14s will allow more rubber. If you put disc brakes around like I did, the smaller wheel just wont fit. I am not going all the way with pro-touring but finding my own happy medium. Aftermarket suspension may also change what will fit. Get all that done first and then measure, measure and measure again. Borrow a wheel from a buddy and trial fit. Once you buy.. well you get the message.
I like what your doing there. My intention is for disc all the way around and a suspension upgrade. What are you running for tires and rims. I'm on my own with nobody to test fit anything with. As always, I'm grateful for any info provided. Thanks
