Where are you guys attaching the wires for an electric in the wiring harness; I have a 1969 Skylark 350/T350. Thanks Jaye
You want to use a "key on" 12 volt power source. You could run a wire from the fuse block, or tie in to the wiper power line under hood. Don't use the ignition wiring.
A customer brought me a `70 GTO once and said he didn't think the choke was working. He had recently installed a new Edelbrock carburetor. He had the hot wire for the choke wired directly to the battery. I said, "Oh, it's working, it's just never going to close"
I used the wiper motor as there was an unused terminal right in the middle. I used 16G and an inline 20amp fuse. Worked out great!
I just had my Quadrajet converted to electric choke. I installed the carb and ran the engine without wiring up the electric part of the choke. It seemed to function properly? choke plate was closed when cold, then opened up once the engine warmed up. I am assuming there is a thermostatic spring in the housing? so why do I need to supply 12 volts? im sure there is a reason, I just don't know it.
The 12v heats the thermostat could and opens the choke. You'll see the difference in winter especially . Without 12v it would take forever to open the choke on engine heat.
