Guys, I am looking to do some minor touch up on my block and don't want to use spray to do that. Does anyone have the formula to match Buick engine red and can it be mixed to have a reasonable heat tolerance? Thanks for your help. Steve

Steve - If spray cans were used and you know which brand, etc then just go get the same spray can, turn it upside down and "spray" until the aerosol is all gone. Punch a hole in the bottom and pour the paint out into a good metal pint paint can....wala...instant touch up paint. If it's too runny then put some in a small plastic jar lid and let the solvents evaporate a bit or until it reaches the consistency/thickness you need to dab it on.

Patton, nice to hear from you. Thanks for that tip. Would have never thought of that. I have lots of Buick Red engine paint in aerosol, so I'll give that a try. I also found a site that sells brush on, self leveling engine paints. Did not have Buick red, but T-Bird red looked like it could work. All other reds were too orange in tone. I ordered a pint to see. I'll share results. Thanks again, Steve

Thought that may be the case. I may use some good ole Buick red from the can to lighten the color a bit and see what happens. Thanks, Steve

I just painted my motor a few days ago with Krylon Buick Red K02114
After one start, the heads have darkened so much they're black. Disappointing.

If you can find it, the Duplicolor paint hold up the best

All I do is spray the paint into the paint can cap at a close range like 1". You only need a small amount of paint it goes a long way. I spray until there is a small puddle in the cap when it's tipped. Then get my brush and touch up. Might have to put more in the cap if it's a larger area. It's better than putting a hole in a good can, I think.

I was looking back through the threads about where to buy the Krylon 2114 engine paint and found a place that sells it by the case. I just received my shipment last night and paid right around $40 for 6 cans (that includes the shipping cost). I ordered it last week, so it took about 6 days to get to me, using the cheapest shipping price (FedEx ground).

DH1608 it think? I also recall it being discontinued.
At my local Napa the #1608 is a white or something now :Do No:

I also saw somewhere that Sherwin-Williams owns Krylon and one of thier stores might be able to mix some up for you, but I have not tested that theory.
