Well I'm buttoning up the 85 Regal after getting it running, and by the way it is an awesome engine thanks to JW. I have TA shorty headers with their 3" down pipes and I've installed Flowmaster mufflers on them and they fit real nice in the floor contour, but it doesn't look like I will be able to run any tail pipes or extension any farther than that because the floor is too low after that point. The mufflers are tight fitting to the floor with little room to spare and I don't see any way to lower them. Did any one else run into this problem ? I've considered using a reducer from 3' to 2 1/2" , but I'm not sure if that will do it. Is my only option to vigorously alter the contour of the floor ? Any suggestions are welcomed. Papa Roger -- Ive got a similar setup on my 81 regal. 462 w/ TA shorties. Difference on mine however is I ran 2 1/2" Pypes exhaust from there back to the bumper including an X pipe. I had no issues with the exhaust being to tight to the floor. Pictures may help if you can post some. Ill try to get some pics of mine up for you too.
Well guys I broke down and contacted an exhaust shop in Escanaba,MI. about 50 miles from here, and they are going to bend me some pipes that will fit. I was hoping to stay away from the expensive custom exhaust, but I should count myself lucky I got it as far as the tail pipes before bending over ! I know Buick and reasonable cost don't go together. But the good thing is I can finish the rest of the exhaust 3" all the way, and it won't look like a back yard job. Thanks for the response. Roger On The Eighth Day God Created Buick
X2 I run a torque tech exhaust with x-pipe and its a3 1/2 inch reduced to a 3 inch exhaust. There are a few options for 3inch tails but Tourque Tech is one of the best buick suppliers we have.
