    Hi together,

I was wondering if era-correct paperwork exists that includes e.g. headers (Stage 2 program), 15 " aftermarket Mag wheels , etc. explicetly for the 1970-1972 Buick GS?

I had a magazine, ca. 1980ties, that had an article about the Stage 1 and 2 Buicks and even came up with some parts numbers, but these where "just" written into the article, not part of a bulletin/memo copy or else.

So, do you guys know of or have copies of day-two mods that are from the early 70ties?

    Thanks in advance

    Jens

Stage 2 parts are in the Buick Parts books maybe as a supplement.

Hi, thanks, these are available as reprints or somebody has a PDF file? Have the usual manuals, the 1971 catalogue but unfortunatly no parts book.

    Hi,

found a CD with all parts 1940-72 ? Anyone knows there'll be the Stage 2 parts included?

Same goes for a printed version I found, but before I spend big bucks ( some 40 $ for the CD, some 140$ for the print) on a book that's not going to help me, does somebody know if these parts are included in the parts book for sure?

Thing is, for tech inspection around here I'd like to have a written piece where I can point my finger at and then end of story... like e.g. "Yes, it could be had with headers, yes, you could fit it with Keystone wheels" ect.

    Hi together,

I`ve gotten myself a digital copy of the "Buick master parts book 1940 - 1972", some 3000 pages....but by scanning through it, I couldn`t find a mentioning of the Stage 2, no appendix for the project or anything.

Does anyone know if there`s a certain page or section to be picked for the info in the book?

Also emailed the Sloan Museum for printed information concerning the Stage 2 program (available parts, parts numbers, maybe an ad or anything), but they seem to be involved in a project and announced that it`ll take some time for them to respond...well, let`s see what happens.

In the meantime, if anybody has some infos on the parts, esp. the headers, I`d be happy to hear about it. There has never been official headers for the Stage 1, right?

Wow, Jim, this would be great....but just if it works for you...I have the time. Let me know if I could do something for you in return.

Hey Lon, thanks a lot. They even mention the headers in the paper.

I did some more digging and found a receipt from Gary Paine's original Stage II parts purchase from the dealer...

Hi Lon, thanks, that`s great...if only this would have been my order instead ;)

Jim already told me to scan through the older threads to gather some info, think I`ve seen it before. I`ve put your copy in my digital basket right away, thanks again.

Notice how the first variant of the stage 2 package accessory references a 430 and not just a 400.

    I also liked the following sentence in the Kennedy-Bell letter;

"Tony Branson is turning 10.10"s at 136 MPH with his Stage II head equipped Buick Pro-Stocker."

This would have been the 455 Experimental 4-bolt main motor with the Experimental Tunnel Port Stage II heads that we have.

So Duane, this would be a deduction as well since it wasn't "ordered" on the car from the factory as you mentioned "Buick Approved Accessories" should be a deduction????

    Keith,
I don't think this car or engine had anything to do with the show field.:D
Now my 69 car would be a different story. I need to supply all kinds of documentation regarding parts etc. that "Motion" and other venders were selling at the time, if I want to send it through the GSCA Judged Classes. It would be judged like we did with the "Motion Equipped GSX".
I have almost everything, we will see.

PS. I knew you would show up when I talked about the Tissue dispenser and the Compass, that's why I did it. Glad to see you are still with us after that accident.

    Jim,
If memory serves me correct Denny Manner told me he was working on the Stage II cam back in 1967. I vaguely remember him showing me the actual drawings he developed for that cam and I believe they were dated 1967.
