Goodmark has NO market research apparatus. They are also operating on a flawed business model. In a sense they have a situation where they "think" something will be profitable, but have no paperwork in their hands to say why. Take the Challenger 1/4 panel example. They are going to spend a pile of money making an expensive part for a niche vehicle, and blithely state that there is no demand for Buick parts, despite the fact that TA Performance has a full line of speed parts for the niche within the Buick community that wants to race hard. The short of it is, that Goodmark has no interest in seeking out the consumer; a small-minded approach. The owner probably sits in his office trying to "think" up the next big thing, instead of doing even a simple true analysis. He's probably a Chevy guy with no formal business training. Goodmark isn't the only shop with a stamping machine. I have had some short conversations with the owner of a Canadian firm called Wolf, that showed promise. They seemed interested in the BUICK market, but I didn't have the v8buick community at that time. They are still interested, and here's the proof:http://www.alfaparts.net/buick.html Lets give them a try. Dan
Got my reply this morning: No plans to offer any of those panels at this timesorry! No one makes them newyou will have to find good used parts off a salvage car. Goodmark If good used parts were so easy to come by then surely they would not have had to make so many repro's for the Chevelle and Camaro! My .02 ou:
This was my reply.... No one makes fenders, quarters and rad support for a 68 Skylark. You will have to find those parts used off a salvage car. Please see our full catalog online at www.goodmarkindustries.com. All items we offer are listed with pix and prices. If you need a printed catalog, send $3.00 to the following address: Goodmark Industries, Inc. 625-E Old Norcross Road Lawrenceville, GA 30045 Be sure to include your name, address, telephone #, type of vehicle youre working on, and where you saw our advertisement (what magazine or TV show). Goodmark
You know, I just reread this sticky from end to end, and thought I'd add one more thought....Based on Goodmark's initial reply about "phones ringing off the hook," and their later responses after we "rang their phones", it looks to me like they are a bunch of liars....Let's get the word out that they are liars and boycott their parts list. So much for their idea of "supporting the parts that are already being made" if they are willing to lie to us, and then say "we have no plans to make ANY Buick parts". Heck, those bastadges are now making full Camaro unibodies! I pledge to buy no Goodmark parts until they learn some business acumen. :moonu: Dan
I'm looking at my bodyshop replacement panel book here. They DO make lower door skins and quarters for a 68-69 & 70-72 skylark, as well as the rear lower common rust out spot panels for the front fenders. Rocker panels, deck lid, complete flooring and braces. Inner wheelhouse and more. Why deal with Goodmark when the parts are there? Well here.... Take a look for yourself http://www.crosscanadaparts.com/cgi-bin/crosscanada/product_list.html?img_num=667_668
Well I've read through this sticky, but I haven't been through EVERY thread on this forum. So if I missed something, just say so. It looks like no one has been able to find a company that will make the front fenders. I'm at the point of not caring if I have to use fiberglass parts. US body makes them, but they aren't designed for hinged hoods. VFN Fiberglass also makes them, but they haven't responded yet to my email regarding their fit with hinged hoods. Dred
 wasting your time and don't get your hopes up...... click on the new parts and see all the non GS parts available......pretty pathetic when Gm Goodmark will make mopar crap before GS parts.... http://www.goodmarkindustries.com/HomePage.html
anyone try OPG ? maybe with enuff naggin? how about if a big club(gsca/bca) invited these guys to a big buick meet and had someone to talk to the people with buicks and seen how many are at these meets that could motivate them if the gsca can get repro grills done why cant other stuff be looked into
Thought I'd try Goodmark for 70-72 Skylark front fender exterior skins - here's their response (10-17-2006): No plans to offer any new Buick stuff at this time...sorry! Goodmark
I talked to the Goodmark guys at SEMA they will not be building us any front fenders, they say the molds are about 1Mil, and they could never sell enough to pay back. However, if us buick guys put up ~ 1/2 the cash for the molds, then they'll give us all deals on front fenders when we buy them from them. Wow sounds good to me, I'm having a bake sale next week to start raising some money......
I wish I had two good rear quarters, I'd figure out a way to make good patch panels. Every well used Skylark I've ever had or seen has had bad rear quarters, they can't tell me there aren't enough people to buy a patch panel...
I just sent Goodmark an email. One of my uncles was a Buick engineer for almost 40 years and he would have been extremely disappointed in a company that wouldn't build Buick repair parts when the demand is so high.
Well I got a response back from Goodmark already. As expected, it was like the rest. They did say that the reason the Mopar parts are made is because those cars are getting so expensive and cost so much at the big auctions. I guess someone with deep pockets made it happen for them.
