few 350 questions

    anyone know of a decent machine shop near hazard ky also? one if the two guys that i used to use retired and the other passed.

    I would think the crower will make more torque advanced 4 degrees. But compression and converter with make it really work. Big valves, better air flow. Will give a stronger mid range. I know it works well in Matt’s 68 skylark. But he has a nice trishield convertor and big exhaust valves. Some milled off heads but he doesn’t know how much. Figuring by his quarter times he was 14 flat. He was probably about 270-290 hp with stock intake and exhaust manifolds on an original 2 barrel engine. Well tuned quadrajet from Quadrajet Power. Distributer recurve. 3.42 gears. 350 trans. X pipe exhaust.

    his 68 should be higher comp as is too. ive got a 69 motor in storage and 2 73s and another 72 iirc lol. i didnt pay for any of them so i kept em. i was planning the 50 thou off the heads hogging them out and the intake and throw my headers on. may swap for a s10 convertor just for a bit bigger stall yet still be very street mannered.

    I’m assuming.050 off heads, and an s10 convertor. Working the ports. Headers.
    better rear gears would help sisnce the big cars have huge tires it takes from the effectiveness of the 3.08.

    tires are 235/75r15 stock so yeah its about 2.5 inches taller than a abody. idk if its even a 3.08 in this car. thinking 323 or 342 in the rear with the od trans. with 342 gears on the stock tires and the stock 700r4 i will be actually the same set up as a 4wd s10 with alot more power lol. the blazer mom had the same size tire gear ratio and trans. close in weight even.

    Exactly what I’m saying. The 3.42 would probably be really good with the big tire and the 700 trans. And hopefully you will be around 290-300 hp . 350-375 torque. Which should really pull the big car well , then it would be the tuning of timing and carb jetting.

    well the carb will get a replaced with a tbi efi as soon as funding allows that but until then it will get retuned.
