I have been to places where I thought exactly that. Once I answered an craigslist add for a 85 F150. Drove an hour over to Wakulla County south of Tallahassee. Finally got to the place. Run down single wide deep in the woods off a narrow twisting path for a driveway. Two young guys in overalls with no shirts and a toothless skinny chick came out of a beat down trailer. Dog in old cars, part of a school bus in the yard. Thought to myself what slice of fresh hell is this. Looked over the truck. Left side was nice the right side ,not pictured in the listing , was wiped out. I decided to pass. Had the asking price in cash in my pocket.Asked one kid if it was OK to back the trailer into a small field to turn around. He says OK...... Didnt tell me about the 6' wide ditch that was covered by overgrown grass. Started to pour rain by now.You guessed it. backed the trailer into the ditch Both wheels off the ground, truck setting in mud and its raining buckets. Sat there for awhile and the people in the house kept looking out the door watching me. Started to get worried. Had called road service , they were an hour out. called the sheriff dept to tell them where I was and to come check on me if I didnt call back in an hour. Tow truck finally got there. unhooked the truck,got it free. dragged the trailer out and reconnected to the truck. Never saw the cops. Called them back once I was on the road.Dispatcher didnt know anything about my situation . If there was ever a place a guy could vanish and never be seen again that was it.
