Well guys, it has been a while since I talked about my Cutlass...so here are some pics before the accident (before the 442 stripes) and right after the accident with all the damage. This car is fully rebuilt now, and it looks different from the pics, but I'm sure you will love the before pics..the accident pic speaks for its self!

Here is the pics of the car during reconstruction....this was no cheap job here guys...every bit of chrome and glass was removed in order to repaint the whole car correctly. I will post some pics of my car (finished) when the weather breaks and my foot is healed after the operation. Total repair time on this car was 1.5 years!! I wanted a perfect job done with absolutly no flaws what so ever, and this place delivered! :TU:

Larry - can't wait to see the "after" pictures! What makes the 442 special (1 of 500)?

Ok, what makes this Olds special is that it was built late 84 model year. What happened is that the workers and higher-ups wanted the 442 earlier then the posed date of Sept of 84 (1985 model year). What was created was an 84 442 in disguise, it came with the H/O 307 Olds motor, 3:73 gears with the 8.5 rear, full suspension upgrades (bigger sway bars, better shocks, polyurethane bushings where needed), gage packages (rally cluster pack) and options (upgraded stereo etc...). The only thing that differs from my car to the real 442 is the interior (split bench on the column) and it came with a Hurst blueprinted 3spd trans (rebuild by my trans rebuilder thats why I know, took it apart in front of me and the stock parts wouldnt go..had to special order through hurst). The trans has the speical governer to shift harder(at 5,000 RPM "redline" when floored), and special gearing with a stall convert and semi/manual valve body. This model was the best combo for the buck for any "G" body Cutlass and the fastest combo from the factory. The original owner worked got GM of Linded NJ and speical ordered the car. I only know of 1 more like mine in PA, and it is white with "real leather" burgundy interior with burgundy landau roof. This is my fist car I have ever owned, and I will not ever get rid of it. The finished product has a custom brown paint (brown with gold pearlesence) and gold 442 stripes around the belt line, every bit of chrome trim replaced or polished, and the interior fully detailed to original specs. I will post pics of it when the weather breaks and I can take some, I'm sure you will be impressed :TU:

Now for the Buick...it's a Buick 355 (30 over) rebuild just about everthing, stage 1 cam (TA perf.) high vol. oil pump etc....The color is actually Plasti-Kote universal red (very close to the buick red) engine paint. This motor runs top notch, Ray had the pleasure of riding in the car while I let run wild :Brow: . Needless to say he was very impressed:TU: . The motor is still being worked on and should be finised in the up and coming months (GS air cleaner, dist fix, possibly new cam). Its a complete numbers matching car right down to the heads. I will be sending the whole car to the body shop prob late spring early summer....depends on if I wanna have some fun with it first if ya know what I mean :Brow: .

Thanks for looking and I appreciate any comments and questions that you may have :TU:

Great pics and interesting story. I hope you update this post with more pics combo goals etc. I have a 87 GN that I bought new that has run 12.70s original turbo etc. I have keept it externally stock appearing & reasonably quiet but now have a TE-60, V4, convertor etc for it looking to run 11.50-80ish this summer. I also have a Dark Blue on blue 88 Cutlass that will be a 442 cloan with a factory appearing hood buldge & rear spoiler. I has a 2004R thats going to get a street/strip build and a 8.5 posi 3.42 rear out of a 84 T-type already in it. It also has the GN springs & sway bars. It has bucket seats console & a ralley pack that will get a stock appearing 140 mph speedo face. I also have the 15x7 442 ralley wheels that I will have the back ones widened along with my stock GN wheels. Oh yea I have a 509ci pump gas Caddy motor that I have rebuilt that will go in the Cutlass so that it will keep up with my GN. Down the road after I get these finished I will probably look for something to build a GSX cloan out of. Me thinks a clear coated stratomist blue with flatish black striped hood & white interior sounds good. Maybe by then one of Jim's blocks & some of TA's stage 1 heads. Everything is time & money.
