Ok, from my last thread i have learned where the flex lines should go through the frame, but how to be sure the flex lines stay away from the front springs ? My idea is to route the lines through the marked holes in the pictures. What you think ?
My trans lines are rubber push lock and are go under the motor mount,I just use a few zip ties to secure them
Markus, No issue here, I have been running AT trans cooler lines in 68-72 A bodies thru the frame since the 90's.. never had one issue with front coil spring-line contact. 25-30 installs personally, and I had a kit available for a while, sold about a dozen of those or so. So a fair amount of experience with the install. I use -4 lines, if you do the math, they are just slightly smaller in ID than the 5/16 steel lines, because hard tube and flexible hose are speced differently.. ID for hose vs OD for hard line... -6 braided is overkill, and causes unnecessary installation issues, I never have tried to put -6 lines in the frame of a A body. Some folks have done it, I am sure they will chime in. JW
Read through this thread. There is a lot of information on lines and fittings. I used -6AN push lok hose and fittings. No issues at all. http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/transmission-cooler-recommendation.299758/
Thx, the lines are in. Found little holes in the frame where i have fixed the lines, so they stay away from the springs.
I have one of JW’s kits for my 71 Skylark, I believe I installed it in 2002-2003. I also wondered about spring contact after the install, but I’ve put about 40k miles on the car since then, and no issues. I checked the lines about 10k miles ago when I installed new coil springs, and there was no wear or pinching occurring.
