I watched Car Fix last night and they began replacing all the sheet metal on a '63 Ford Galaxy, supplied by AMD who is now repopping all the sheet metal for this year of car. Also stated that AMD in the future will be doing the same for Torinos, etc.
I thought the '63 1/2 Galaxys were absolutely gorgeous. They had two problems - both easily solved; the front bucket seats were almost unbelievably uncomfortable - a couple of sheets of plywood would be almost as good, and the front suspension was sloppy. The seat issue could be solved by installing '64 buckets, (Ford knew that the '63 seats were awful and totally redesigned them for '64). The sloppy front suspension could be fixed by the installation of the Police interceptor lower control arm pivots.
AMD did make sheet metal for our Buicks (70-72?) but due to lack of demand, sic, sold the sheet metal to thepartsplace. There is a thread on this site from many years ago.
