How many of the 101 are left, accounted for in the Stage 1 registry?

I had one for about 15 years that sold on eBay in 2011. It needed a complete restoration but all the goodies were there, including the original motor as well as a 25 year collection of NOS/OEM parts.

Sawzall Mike scrapped and parted it.

So, you can subtract 1 from that 101.

Sure can't be many. I know of another one I may try to get if it's still around/avail. (for my sake I kinda hope it isn't:)). I think @Brett Slater owned one that may have subsequently been parted so w/yours that's 3% of 'em.

Honestly, and I know this'll seem silly to many, if your car had been a factory manual steering car I may have gone for it. It sure would've been tearing at me even more. Can't imagine how many times I thought about it and I know @Clarkie did too.

Probably safe to say less than 20-25 in existence??

Probably about right. And of those, even less with a #'s matching drivetrain.

You're right, Dano, I was losing sleep over it. I couldn't get it out of my mind.

I know of two '72 Stage 1 4-speeds about and hour an a half from me. One of them I was looking to buy from out in British Columbia a number of years ago.

You and i had of course discussed. At least it's in a good home. Wow, 2 that close. Any idea if they'd be in the registry? Done/orig/project cars?

I know of one 72 Stage 1 4 speed. Thomas Latta bought it new. His son wrecked it back in the nineties and he sold it to Tom Page several years ago. Tom is supposed to be rebuilding it. I have not had an update on it in a while.

One is currently being restored, the other is already restored. I don't know if they are in the registry, or not.

this conversation sent me back to the registry, and I was very surprised to see that there there were more Stage 1's built in 1969 (1468) than there were in either 1971 (882+GSX's), 1972 (809+GSX's) or 1973 (728). And ironically the year considered to be the most desirable (1970) was by far the most common Stage with 3097 produced. Go figure.

I sold one in 2019. Totally numbers matching.
There is a member in Oregon that knows of a Flame Orange one.

One of the cars Brad Clarke is speaking of likely was one of mine. It is in the registry. Stratomist Blue with black vinyl top and black bucket interior was all numbers matching when it was sold.

There’s a 72 Flame Orange Stage 1 4 speed with black buckets in Kansas that’s a member here.

I seem to recall Troy Acton having a very similar car during the infancy of this board.
