I have a 65 skylark convertible, i want wheels. I have drum brakes. What else can I say? I'd like to run a nice size tire to fill the well. 245/60/14 or 15 might do. What ya got for me? I'll even take advice! I am motivated to buy and not rich, bad combo, eh? Rallies, Torque Thrusts sumpin' like dat. More parts requests coming soon to a thread near you. Thankyou very much, Paul
I have always been partial to Boyd Coddington Smoothie II's, look similar to a torque thrust, but have a "deeper dish" look, and not everyone has them. Priced a little cheaper too. I paid $900 including shipping for my 17X7's (without tires).
i have these wheels and tires if interested. they are 14" rims from a 65 tempest custom. no centers. i was asking $300 with the tires but please make me an offer as they are sitting here now. ghildebrand@wi.rr.com Greg
Thanks for the replies gents! How 'bout Cragar SS Rims? Anyone have an old set collecting dust in their garages? I could use two 14"x7" or four 15" rims. They don't need to be perfect, just presentable. Thanks again, Paul
I got my Cragar SS 15" wheels and BF Goodrich tires from Summet Racing, They paid shipping. They rub a bit in tight turns, but hate to raise the front up so I live with it. They look great. Good luck making the choice. Bill Bailey
Cragar 15"s You might want to check your shims on your alignment. When I put my 20"s on, I had a slight rubbing problem (I have 26.5" tall tires) But when I had it aligned, I found out it had NO SHIMS AT ALL! Once they shimmed it and aligned it correctly, no more rub. Just for informational purposes, the wheels are 20x8 with 5" backspacing. You shouldn't have any rubbing with a 15" wheel and appropriately-sized tires.
Cragar SS :bglasses: Thanks for the info. My tires are BF Goodrich Radial TA P215/65R and more than likely a bit too tall and wide for my car. I was thinking about some rubber spacers for the front springs to firm up and slightly raise the front end but for now I am being careful. Take care. Bill Bailey
