I can't believe I found two owners in one location. I ran an ad on "Craigslist Wanted " to find any and all information about a 71 Buick GSX "SCO" Special car order being Verdemist Green. I got a reply from a guy stating he thinks that it is his old car. He believed it was green with an orange stipe and it had a 4 speed with buckets. So I was certain that was his car "BINGO" as I said nothing about those items. So I sent him a couple of pictures and he replied that it was his old car. He didn't know what he had at age 18 and he still doesn't know what he gave up. He was way excited to know that the car still exists and made its way to PA from WI. So we talked and I found out his brother owned the car before him. When he bought it from his brother the engine had wire wrapped up in it, so he replaced the engine. He also stated that the guy he sold it to called him several months after he sold it and cussed him out because the clutch went out. The same story the guy gave me that I bought it from. That makes my search much closer at this time, it brings me to within 6 years of the build year. So I'm still looking for any and all information leading to original owner. He is going to meet up with his brother and try to find me some pictures or paper work if any still exist. And so the search continues....
What does Verdemist green look like? There's a dark aqua GSX near me. It was once for sale in the Willow Grove, Pa (off of the Pa turnpike outside of Philly) in the mid 90's.
Is this the car that was brought to the GSX reunion and sold there? Very cool story. Keep chasing that trail! It would be great if the original owner was around and could verify your 1 of 1! :TU:
Yes, that is the car. Ken, I would like to know if the full size picture in Duanes "Date Code" book of the transmission is by chance the one from your X? The reason I ask is my transmission date code is one day after that perticular unit.
Yes, that is my trans in Duane's book. Wow, one day apart! What's your cowl build date and body number? Must be close to my 01D and 000642.
04D & 001051 The only thing I have not yet confirmed is that the vin on the transmission matches the car. Seems like a lot of automatic cars between us, (409) or lack of 4 speed cars.
It's a 71. I've seen some photos of this car from the BPG meet this year, but am having trouble locating them. EDIT: Ken's too quick!
Good luck with finding the paperwork. I believe many of us who attended the GSX reunion would like to see the finished restoration. Maybe one of these years someone will come forward with the missing '71 microfiche. Ken
