I use 2x4 blocks wrapped with old t-shirts on each of the lift plates. I position them under the rocker panels but outside of the pinch weld, then lift the body up and roll the chassis out from under it.

lift it at the pinch welds on the rocker. make sure you strap the body to the lift arms. the body is much heavier towards the back if the doors are off. it won't be super stable.

No straps or anything like that. Sitting like this for almost a year now. Stable enough to work on.

if you pull down on the trunk the front will lift right up. again this is only with the doors off.

    Joe,

It's very safe....just double check the lift arm to the 2x4 to the pinch weld positioning......plus the legs of the two post lift lock in place as an added safety.

If you should need help....if you give me a few days notice....I would be more than happy to come over and help a local Buick Buddy.

Plus be sure to attend MCACN on Nov. 18th and 19th.....I will have a lot of awesome Buicks to look drool over :)

What I use is some TREATED 4x4's I use 14in long that I then took a router and cut a 3/8 wide 3/8 deep groove into and it goes directly under the pinch weld.

Id be leary of putting them on the out side of the pinch due to the way the rocker is shaped

That doesn't mess with body gaps with front end still on it?

Dan - very cool way to do it. Does the hood and the core support stay with the body?

    Bill,

I remove the hood and core support....but the front header panel does stay with the body.

Ratchet straps on each corner down to the lift arms will add safety. Especially on the light end .
