I am new to this site and hope this is the correct forum.

Can someone please show me where the correct 6 mounting points for the front air damn/spoiler for a 1970 Buick GS/GSX are located. I can not tell by holding up the reproduction air dam.

    Thank you

Ill be dammed X2 LOL... I have a repop and deflector that's not a good fit and would like to see the points too. Mines 'glass and looks like itll need to be cut and reglued to fit even "close". Had to take it off to clear a trailer and its collecting dust for 4 years now!

This was a pic from the PO before I bought it. Ive never seen a personalized collector plate from Wisconsin before (?) ws

I have an aftermarket one on my 70 Skylark and I load and unload it with plenty of clearance..Yours had to have been mounted way wrong...

When I took delivery on the car, the PO met us half way with the XGS on his trailer. It was a power tilt deck unit to boot. For what ever reason, the spoiler wouldnt clear and it was snowing in a Sears parking lot. Looking back at the inserted pics, it seems the cable was mounted on top of the spool and should've been underneath instead. My step son jumped underneath and started pulling a ton of rusty (RTF) double nutted screws off until it swung clear; all the while hanging on the cable. I just never felt comfortable putting it back on but it really does need to get installed. I really don't know at this point what it came from, if even a Buick at all. Maybe a GOAT? Who knows. The PO was a real work of art, so its all a crap shoot. As mentioned, its still in its OEM black gelcoat. It needs paint, so does it get white or black? I know its a personal preference; hell, I could XGS stripe it to match the rear. Hmmm. Opinions? ws

1970 spoiler was slightly different than 71-72, thanks to bumper bottom profile. Be sure yours fits your bumper...vendors like Parts Place sell same one for all 3 years. And to further complicate things, there are non-factory style spoilers available that mount differently.

Unless your car had a spoiler previously, there are no holes in fenders/core support. Easiest way to install is to clamp spoiler in place with carpenter's squeeze clamps, aligning ends at front wheel openings. Center punch hole locations and drill for bolts/self-taps per above diagram...be careful not to drill into radiator bottom tank. That's it unless you're installing baffle and/or center brace. Baffle has l/r orientation and center brace often doesn't fit without modification. Mine was too long and still in a drawer somewhere.

Mine did come with a baffle; probably just to complicate matters. I'm gonna dig this stuff out today for look. Its supposed to be a rain day anyways. I know there was no center support brace when removed but I do have several to fit/modify from front fenders. Pics to follow! ws

Just don't use the fender brace bolts on the lower front fenders!
The spoiler mounts just behind/to the rear of those bolts.
Everything should fall into place after that.

Well... I pulled the guy outa the loft and this is what Ive got. It includes one busted outer hole that got repaired today. I don't think theres much room to mount the spoiler aft of the brace bolts tho. Ill hafta size it up after the stuff gets ground to fit tomorrow. The decision is still BLACK or WHITE? ws

On a GSX it would have been black. The one you have is a fiberglass reproduction. The originals were plastic and had a hole for the center brace retaining bolt.

So being a repop, is this a generic A-body unit, as in the Buick and Judge stuff? The install pic posted shows the center brace. Is that much like a lower front fender brace?

Just went out and pulled the damn resin dam offa the dam before the glass got too hard to work with by hand. A light dusting with the grinder produced this... That guy that does the hoods needs a few Hail Mary's thrown his way! ws

Nice little 1 hour fun job turned into an all day adventure, as usual! Decided to fit the stuff up before painting it and was glad I did. Had a nice little blanky stretched out on the floor with some fasteners and tools so everyone was comfy...

The clamps were a no go, at least on the repop. Set the unit up on some cribbing blocks till it was close. The AHPO had it attached at the two outer fender bolts and the rest of it was screwed to the deflector. I wonder what some people think sometimes, but this guy didn't make it to the thinking stage. Ive been around A LOT of GS's but never had a spoiler to contend with. Yes, theres actually two bolt holes for the spoiler AFT of the fender struts. I had the fenders off this car and never seen the holes. Good call!

Ultimately, I used those two holes (fender bottoms needed adjusting in 1/4" each) and then used 1/4-20 stainless pan head screws with nuts etc. to locate it. The center mount was two tech screws (self drillers) with fender washers into the bottom of the hood latch bracket. Nothing else came close without pulling the radiator for a clearance check. Its still pretty darn solid sans the parking stop blocks at the store. I would guess that's what damaged the unit before. Gotta be careful when parking.

Sanded it and painted it gloss black with rustoleo 2X industrial enamel. It was dry in the sun when I finished having coffee. Install was now pretty easy. I finished up trying to beat the clock to take the wife to the doctors office, but didn't make it. As I was closing the hood (I always look around for bolts and tools first!) I hear this clinkety-clink and realize I left a 7/16 wrench on the core support. I looked for and hour for it and figured it HAD to have slided under the battery tray. Got all that apart and there it was... sitting on top of the turn signal housing. I felt like an A-HOLE. Have fun; its always an adventure! Couldnt make it to the ground for the last pic, so its crooked; sorry! ws

You got it. That's what it should look like. Definitely have to watch for parking lot "dam busters"... but that's true for most all cars now. Glad our Genny has parking assist cameras, it's really low...

Wiggle center section to see if you need a center brace...go fast members seem to think you do, and yes it's basically a fender brace.
