Hello All In my 69 GS front suspension overhaul I am replacing the these bumper stops. Does anyone have a tip on how to get these installed, it is a pain and am not having any luck Thank You in advance!
Rubber mallet and some dish soap. Take a-arm outside if possible. Lil soap and a solid sharp smack . Jim
HI Jim: This is the bumper that is mounted to the upper control arm frame and is part of the frame so it is not part of the upper control arm. See attached picture Thanks Bob
Ahh, I see. I'd try the dish soap, just a lil in the frame hole. Then smack it quick n hard, should pop in. That's how I did mine . Bear in mind, I did a frame off so access was easy. GL, Jim
I put these in my car. What I did was take an old shoe string, wrap the middle around the bottom of the bumper a few times, squirt it down with WD-40 and pull the two ends through the hole. Get it started and pull the string and it will walk into the hole. Easy peasy!
Use one of the above lubricants and then apply a "Twisting Motion" in one direction as you push, just as if you were screwing it into the frame. Larry
Just a FYI - If you are installing/adding the Rally Pac or F41 suspension these are omitted on the 69GS.
