All -- I could use some guidance. I'm tracking down a fuel leak and suspect the tank (removal will confirm). I know there are reasonable sealant options (POR 15 etc) but I have also considered a fresh start. 1) has anyone found a brand that fits properly, looks OEM and is not paper thin? 2) I assume a pro refresh is $300 plus? 3) is this the same tank as a 68 LeSabre? Thanks!!

I looked all over the place when I had my 'Cat torn down and wanted a new tank. Nobody had one. I made the decision to clean it out and keep it. Unless you're comfortable with putting in a fuel cell, I don't know of any replacement OEM/NOS units out there. At least the repair options are somewhat viable.

Damn......wish i had known they were unobtanium...a couple years ago when I turned up 800 miles from home to tyrekick the one I now own, i was told it was now dedicated LPG. The LPG tank is in the boot, uh, trunk.

The seller pointed to the skip outside his workshop and said: ''Original fuel tank in there if you wanna take it away for free...''

''Nah,'' I said, ''I'll never need it with petrol at $6 a gallon, but LPG at $2.50 a gallon...... ''

It was rusty and dinged a bit, and it went to the garbage dump.

Another thought it isn't original but consider a fuel cell hide it inside the shell of the old tank? Also I wonder if the tank from a Big Chevy might work they probably make those.
