Looking for advice regarding my fuel tank. I finally got my car running with the rebuilt 455. Car had the fuel tank replaced already at some point before I owned it. I put an extra clamp on the main line so there are two clamps on it now. The car also has a TA Stage 1 pump and an AED 750 HO carb.

When I fill the tank up it leaks. I got under the car and saw that one of the vents is just completely open with nothing attached to it. The gas cap is a non venting cap so my logic is that I do not want to plug this open vent. What would be the correct way to address this? Also, my new exhaust is very close to my main line coming from the tank. I plan on wrapping this section of exhaust and the fuel line for now but I will reroute it in the future. I plan on dropping the tank anyway eventually to work on the trunk floor.

First off that looks a fire ready to happen especially a rubber line next to the exhaust pipe.
If I were you I would replace all the fuel lines and vent lines to the way it suppose to be.
I don't know if 69's are the same as the 70's but here is a photo of my fuel and return lines on my 71 GS.
You can see the bright metal fuel and return line all the way to the back of the gas tank and the rubber lines connecting to the sending unit lines.

Like George said, I am not sure your 69' is plumbed the same as 1971 - 1972, but here is the diagram from the manual. Hope it helps!

I appreciate the pictures guys. I’m definitely worried about the position of that fuel line. We just installed the exhaust this weekend and didn’t really have much space so I figured I’d just shift the fuel line. I had to get that exhaust on the open headers were killing my ear drums lol...plus my neighbors probably were ready to kill me lol.

I looked at other A Bodys and the fuel line set up seemed to have changed in 71 with Chevelles. I don’t know if Buick’s were the same.
