I'm with 66electrified on this one. There is a Buick Electra 225 group on Facebook, and I find it a terribly depressing place to go. So many of the cars seem to be receiving the 22-inch wheel treatment, and they look ridiculous.

Gary, if you would prefer to avoid the Arctic White / dark brown vinyl roof color scheme, there are other 1971 Buick colors that would look great and go well with the Saddle interior. At least these would have the benefit of being correct 1971 Buick colors. Consider these possibilities:

    Cornet Gold:

    Burnished Cinnamon:

    Rosewood:

    Sandpiper Beige:

Finally, and I would need to check the Color and Trim Album to ensure compatibility, but I believe that some '71's were built in deep Verdemist Green with the Saddle interiors. Here's the exterior color:

Yep, it's in someone's private collection in Europe, now.

Brian, you forgot Twilight Turquoise :) (maybe not with a saddle interior....but it may work!)

Adam, I thought about that, but wasn't sure how it would look with the Saddle interior. As you say, it might work!

While I am not positive concerning the Deep Verdemist green and Saddle being available in 1971, I am positive Hunter Green (a very, very close color to Deep Verdemist green) was available with a Saddle interior in 1972 as that is the color combo of my 1972 Centurion (along with the green convertible top). BTW, 1972 was the BEST year of big Buick's....:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Brad, I was thinking of your convertible when I offered that Verdemist Green might have been available with the Saddle interior. The colors certainly work well on your '72! I will try to check the Color and Trim book for '71 this weekend.

I owned a 71 in Sandpiper Beige with a brown roof, and it had a Sandalwood interior. Only owned it for about 3 weeks before the tranny fell out of it, I was young, broke, unemployed, and so off to the wrecker it went. That was in 1982. It was a rusty 71 LeSabre 2 door hardtop and it broke my heart to get rid of it. There was just something about the way it looked, I dunno, but I loved the colours, I loved the lines, but my landlord said get rid of it or he'd do it for me at my expense. Never came across another one again, most I saw were rusted beyond salvage and not worth the effort. So I've got a soft spot for 71 Buicks. If a half decent one came my way tomorrow, I'd really have to think hard to say no, so yes, I'm very partial to seeing it done stock.

Seeing those pictures brings back some memories...:ball:

I have the 1971 Buick Color and Trim Book in front of me, and for the LeSabre Custom with Saddle Trim No. 436, as indicated on Gary's Fisher Body data plate, the following exterior colors are:

    "Compatible"

    Regal Black
    Arctic White
    Cornet Gold
Verdemist Green -- there it is!
    Rosewood
    Burnished Cinnamon
    Sandpiper Beige

    "Acceptable"

    Willomist Green
    Platinum Mist
    Fire Red
    Silver Fern

Wow, lots of options that would be "correct", even if not how the car was originally built. Among the "Acceptable" colors, here are a couple of examples for which I had photo files:

    Willowmist Green:

    Silver Fern:

    Another look at Verdemist Green:

Another '71 Electra 225 in Verdemist Green (with incorrect wire wheel covers). Try to picture a solid '71 LeSabre Custom 4-door hardtop in this color with the Saddle interior, Buick chrome-plated road wheels, and, perhaps, a Centurion-style paint stripe in a color to match the Saddle interior. Can you say "knockout"?

The overall look of Verdemist Green on a B-Body 4-door hardtop is captured by this '72 Centurion in Hunter Green:

is 72 hunter green the same as 71 verdemist green?

No, I believe that the colors are slightly different from '71 Verdemist Green to '72 Hunter Green. I was merely trying to give you an "approximate" look of what a B-Body 4-door hardtop would look like in that color.

I think the hunter green is a solid color, where the verdemist is metallic

Hunter is metallic also. More of a deep green with more of a gold tinge...

Nice pictures, I'm still more partial to the whites and the beige than the green; - it seemed every second car was green in those days.

If I restore it, it will be all the way with the right colors and top.
