Curious if folks have come up with a clever replacement for the nylon roller that sits under the gas pedal. My roller is more like a square.... I've got metal on metal - digging into the back of the gas pedal. Was thinking of trying to swap it out for some type of mini radial bearing?? Any better ideas??

Most pedals are metal backed (cast iron or stamped steel). Might be possible to get a bronze roller (search by inner and outer diameters) and use that. (Bronze, being softer, should work and last longer.)

The other alternative, would be to find a nylon "wheel" that could be "cut down/drilled" to fit with a little effort, and tools most of us possess.

    (just thinking out loud)

I'm not familiar with the setup here, but would a aluminium house window roller work? Or a nylon washer? Drawer roller?

This is a pic of a 1964 Wildcat pedal and the bell-crank with the rollers. (pedal is turn around to reveal the backside).

It is typical of several pedals that used the nylon rollers.

The rollers suffer from weathering, and even if someone finds a good part that has been set aside for +50 years, it will not last very long.

And, yes, "drawer glide rollers", might be pretty close.

Shower door rollers are similar and may work too.

I think I might try to drill out the rivet that holds the roller. Replace with a 6/32 or 8/32 screw and some nuts washers... I think a small bearing would be ideal as that little wheel gets a fair bit of torque. I worry a nylon door roller might wear or snap. Appreciate all the help!!

Im kinda a bearing hoarder. I take apart electric motors or anything with a bearing thats still good. The part of the pedal that has the rubber. Mine was worn 1/3 down already. The metal part. It was just a matter of having one that fit snug. Then i put an e clip to hold on. You will have to measure and find one to fit snug. I think my bearing is an inch OD. But you can find any size for cheap on Amazon

Haha yeah my hands look like crap. So I made a cardboard hand pointer like in some of the repair manuals with the drawn in hands. My Transmission manuals especially.
