Hey everyone. Glad to be on board. Have a question for you, though. I have a gas tank from a '69 Olds Vista Cruiser for sale, and have been asked if it will fit a '68 Sport Wagon. The Olds forum tells me there is a difference in size between the Olds version '68 vs '69, so am assuming the same is true for the Buick side of things. Can anyone confirm/deny this? Steve '69 Buick GS 400 convertible (wife's car)
We can tell you if they are the same part number but that would not exclude the cross filtting of the of the tanks because any change may have been minor.
Well, if'n it were me - I'd get that old Sport Wagon onto a garage lift, grab my nifty tape measure, check the left to right dimension; check my north to south dimension; and hold up an 8" thick prime roast of beef next to the gas tank to see how thick it is ? Would that help ? ;-))))) That's my Christmas Answer :Comp: RipRohring
I've measured the tank and sent dimensions to the interested party (great minds think alike, eh Rip?). I'd wager a guess if the part numbers are the same we should be good. Thanks!
Hey Jim, Is the part number the same for that Olds/Buick gas tank? If you are the resident expert, I'd appreciate knowing. Thanks. Steve
We'd need the part number from somebody with an Olds parts book...some of us have the Buick book, not likely the Olds book however. Maybe someone here has a Hollander interchange manual? Devon
Part # 398168 Group # 3.001 is good for Buick/Olds/Pontiac '68 & '69 All Wagons in Buick Book I bought a new one in 1990!
