I'm repairing some wiring that was hacked on my 1971 where he made his own under dash lights and figured I'd plumb in the extra glove box and ash tray lights I have laying around. It is a 4 speed non-AC car and I found the harness for the under dash courtesy lights easily so I have hope they are just taped up. Are there pigtails for them in the wiring harness or will I have to find an orange wire to tap for the glove box and a gray wire for the ash tray? Hoping for a clue before I start taking the dash/radio/glove box out.
I just did a new glove box liner (what a PITA!) until I discovered that theres only 2 screws on the door and VOILA! Pull the liner out for majorly better access. Id venture a guess and say the loom is intact for the accessory lighting group. ws
Well, that did help me but I have found that the orange wire was clipped at the wiring harness split where the horn relay and key buzzer exit! Worse, I found an orange wire nut where the grey ash tray light was joined to the glove box light. I guess he only wanted the glove box illuminated if the lights were on? Both of those repaired. Just need some bulbs. Was going to try LED but decided they are such low use to just use the standard bulb.
