Gold mist is Dupont # 867-98370 and Ditzler (PPG) # 22818. These numbers should help the paint supply store indentify the color and be able to mix it in the type you need. I have had paint mixed before using paint numbers for my 64 Skylark which has a one year only color also.
    Hope this helps,

Do you by chance have the code on the cowl tag ? Our chip books only go back to '70, but with the 2 digit paint code I may be able to find the correct color in b/c on the BASF website.
If not I can probably cross reference the DuPont and PPG numbers from the other reply to your post.
More than likely DuPont and PPG won't have that actual color # in b/c, probably just in laquer (if available in your area) and an acrylic enamel.

Gold Mist would be a code "G" on the cowl tag according to my book. Am pretty sure the 2 digit number codes were not used in 67 as my 67 has a code "D" for its Sapphire Blue. I don't think the 2 digit codes were used until the 68 or 69 models.

    Chip Chart......

Here's the link to a '67 Buick paint chip chart. The site is pretty inclusive. Good stuff!

I was able to cross the PPG #22818 to a BASF # 1919 on some old microfiche we had laying around, but was not able to look up a formula for that paint # on the website. If you call 1-800-825-3000 (BASF Tech. line), they can tell you if it's available in b/c, and if so supply a formula for R-M Diamont b/c or Glasurit Line 55 b/c.
Also it may not hurt to ask them to verify that is the correct # for your application (year, make, code, color name)

i talked to friend who said he can mix the paint, in an enamel. im not sure if this type of paint would be durable enough though. i was more worried about the color match. any ideas?

Usually single stage metallics are tough to spray and get a decent appearance. They usually get blotchy because the metallic flops, and can also turn out on the dark side.
The big advantage of basecoat besides ease of spraying metallics is the ability to blend adjacent panels to hide the color difference.

Probably the way to get the best match is if you could get the original color scanned by a spectrophotometer. This device basically picks the closest formula in the paint manufacturer's system.
DuPont, PPG, and BASF all have their own. The BASF "Smart Scan" seems to be much more accurate than the DuPont and PPG spectrophotometers.
If you have a paint jobber locally that has one and could scan your car it may be the best bet.

excellent advise, i can see how the flakes would "flop" and not show the right "side" of the glitter.
