Many thanks for sharing your story Jim. If it wakes one person up that might ignore serious symptoms it was worth it. (the story, that is) Glad you're on the mend. Lots of prayers went out for you.

Glad you are better. Thanks for sharing.

Now make sure you enjoy your work (sure sounds like you do), but make sure you enjoy the non-work parts of life as well (racing or not). Don’t wait.

Swelling, pain, and redness in a leg or arm can also easily be blood clots, and that can be fatal a lot faster than an infection. Had a co worker, barely 50 years old who ignored those signs. He never made it to the hospital.

Glad you're OK and on the other side of this now .. hopes for a full and quick recovery.

Being married to a nurse, I have no choice in yearly check-ups and immediate treatment of anything that ails me. I guess that is a good thing being that Buick and Stubborn seem to go together ;)

Glad to hear your on the mend!

If you want to watch some interesting stuff download the Youtube TV app and search for drag racing. There's all kinds of southern grudge racing and street racing with some amazing cars and some that will really make you shake your head!

Heck I watched live drag racing from Bowling Green last weekend, they even put all the stats up on the screen so it's like reading the time slip while the race is happening. Saw Gary Herche running his Buick GS, along with a few other Buicks.

    Glad you are recovering Jim.
Buddy just ignored a bunch of mini strokes last month, he's recovering okay but should have called the ambulance when his nurse/daughter told him to.

Take care there, big guy!! We only have one mind and body and both of them need attention now and again. I'm recovering from from "issues" as well, but nothing as serious as the ones you're dealing with. REST! Everything will be waiting even though it doesn't feel that way!

Wow Jim, I know you mentioned to me you had an infection but I had no idea it was this bad. NEXT TIME YOUNG MAN, WHEN SOMETHING SWELLS UP LIKE A BALLOON AND YOU HAVE ON AND OFF FEVERS GO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION ASAP! Seriously though, take your time to get better before your tackle your mountain of engines to build. Cutting corners on your recovery can land you right back where you were. We can wait a little longer, your health is more important.

Glad you're in recovery mode Jim. Scary stuff. Good opportunity to take a step back and realize you don't need to run yourself as hard as the engines you build are running.

I lost my mom and my uncle due to staph infections. My mom got it in the hospital because they did a piss poor wound cleaning and suture. My uncle got it in a rehab. Both were sepsis and both died of septic shock.

Probably the most horrible thing I ever saw, and I've seen a LOT of bad stuff.

    Very glad you're ok Jim.

I'm so glad you're on the mend . Once you pass 50 things ain't the same . Sending prayers . I lost my best friend who was 55 on July 5th to a massive heart attack . He was as I , an independent auto shop owner , I am fortunate to have health insurance through my wife's employer he gave his up when the healthcare mandate was implemented . He was in the hospital 15 hours before he passed , his bill was $190k . I sold his 2015 Z06 for his girlfriend for a down payment on the bill . Health insurance is too expensive to have but too expensive not to have and that is a damn shame . He had a 66 and 69 nova SS and they will go soon to try to save their house . I wish you a speedy and complete recovery .

Something wrong big time with that bill. My wife was in the hospital with congestive heart failure for 4 days. If she paid cash It was just under 5k. That was her deductible so she let the insurance pay anyway. That was under 15 k. Have her look at every line item. Usually if she says what can you discount the bill if I pay it off what would it be. Keep saying that’s way too much and ask if they have people to help. If he has a lot of assets that doesn’t mean much. They want the money right away. Selling assets could take a year plus depending upon n a will

Jim, I am glad to hear that you are on the mend. I will be praying for you. Ken is correct that you can negotiate with the hospital. It would be in your best interest to do so. I would ask them what they could do to help. Next tell them that you don’t have the money. Then offer a solution of borrowing money if they could reduce the bill further otherwise you will try to make payments once you get back on your feet. Business being slow with current environment. Don’t feel badly about it there are plenty of insurance companies that they are overcharging. Good luck. Marc
