Finally got around to cleaning and painting the rims, got them on over the weekend and I think it was a great improvement over the 14's in ride quality. Looks better in my opinion, the wheel wells are fuller and she handles a little better too!

Thanks guys, I put a lot of forethought into the sizes of the tires (I still want to go wider on the back!), it took a while to locate the 15x7's that were decent too.

Justin, I agree with you, so far it's better than I thought it would be. Fit, form and function is better than I expected. I was mainly surprised with the ride, but thinking about it made sense, 28 inch (diameter tires on 15 inch rims), verses the 14 inch with a much smaller diameter. I still have a ton of work to do on her but she's coming along!

Brian, thanks, so far the stance is night and day in comparison to what it was. The best stance I've seen on a 64 or 65 is GoldenOldie65, Bill's is the best, if I ever win the lottery, I'm gona make him a deal he can't refuse on his 65. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it on here, to me it's what I'm aiming for in stance, and looks!

    Ant,
The rears are P235/70R-15 (if I remember correctly), the fronts I believe are P215/70R-15's, I'll take a look just to be sure and confirm it though. Give me a couple of minutes, it's out in the lot!

Just checked and I was right, they are mounted on 15x7 WP Rallies!

I'm glad they worked, I plan to do the same with 2 of my 65s. I have been told it wont work.

You are a lucky man, 2 or more 65's, man! So what about it were people saying wouldn't work? I can even go wider on the rear which is what I want to do when these tires are shot, but what I really want to do is go with 15x8's with 5 inches of BS so I can go to like 275's. So I think that's what I'll do when these tires are spent, have the rims made, and do it.

    Regards,

Hey Doug, I had 275-60R-15 drag radials mounted on 15x7 Buick rally rims on my '64 without any issues, I did replace the rear springs though because the 45 year old ones on there at the time looked a bit worn out.(front and rear springs replaced) Also with 14x6(or 14x7 however the factory made them?) Buick rallies on the front, stance looked really mean. I don't remember what the front tire size is off hand though but shorter than the rears for sure.

Handles decent as well with the 1 1/4" sway bar up front with SSM lift bars with 1" sway bars in rear.

Derek, good to know, I think my rears are 28 inches and the fronts are like 26.5 or 27 inches (if memory serves me!).

    Regards,

    Doug
