Craig - I'd be fine with the hood with the raised center if you decide to sell it and others ahead of me on your master list don't want it (but it sounds like BuickGSrules does and he's a few spots higher on the list than I am). Mike

I'm not sure if I am already on the list, but I wanted to make sure that I am.I can still use one. A bolt-on for 1970.

Are you still traveling to Baltimore? Any way you could deliver one at some point?

Well I haven't been on here lately or building hoods due to my future plans. I'm putting in my early retirement paperwork the first of next year. I'll be 59 next year and I can retire with only a 3% hit on my pension. (Full retirement is 60) My wife was promoted to an HR Director last June but it required a relocation back to Martinsburg, WV, where she filled in for a year in 2015. So my life has been comprised of working out my last year at the nuke plant and flying SW Airlines almost once a month. In between that I have to get my house ready to sell too as well as figure out how to get 4 cars, 3 dogs and a boat back east in a logical and cost effective manner! I will follow up with those who have mentioned the second to the last hood I made that was off a bit in the center. I don't want anyone holding any project up because of me. I MAY be able to get one or two completed prior to my move but I can't guarantee anything. On the plus side our plans are to buy a house in the Falling Waters, WV area or Virginia, MD or PA area. Anyone familiar with that area knows you can go from VA to WV to MD to PA in about 30 minutes or so on I-81 so other than keeping the wife's commute reasonable it opens up a lot of possibilities. The plan is to get a place with a few acres and either an existing large shop/barn (or build one of those steel buildings about 50 x 40) without close neighbors. Then I can work on my glass side job as much as I want without having a normal 50-70 hr./week job getting in my way! I will miss the winters here in the valley but not the 118 degree summer days! I'll be leaving a lot of friends behind, but I also have friends and relatives in the Hagerstown, Annapolis, Baltimore area too. Plus I'll have to fly back to Phoenix each year to see friends and attended the annual NHRA drags at Wild Horse Pass. It'll be nice to be able to work on building parts 4 or 5 days a week if I want and still have time for other stuff. And while it's probably just a pipe dream, one thing on my bucket list would be to build a complete fiberglass GS body :) I'd have to put the other parts ahead of that since they do make a small amount of money, but even though I don't know if I could really do it or use the finished product, it'd be cool to try. I've been building fiberglass parts for 25+ years now and I have always wondered if I could do something that large.

BQUICK, that would be nice but its a little too far from my wife's work, it's about 70 miles :( We've checked out a few places already just for grins to get to know the area we'll be in and you certainly have to take into consideration how easy will it be to get to work when it snows! Her, not me :) My work will be wander out back to the shop with the dogs and get to work on fiberglass :)

UPDATE - Not making hoods again yet, but getting closer! I hauled my boat, truck and 3 dogs back to WV last week. Now I'm back in AZ getting the house ready to sell, as well as looking for transport companies to haul my GS and Mustang back at the end of the month. I'll then load up a U-Haul with what little house stuff is left here as well as all of my garage stuff. One final cross country drive, hopefully done before Labor Day! As soon as I get back to WV I have a builder coming out to look at closing off the open carport side of the barn, add insulation and replace at least the front slider door with a roll up door so I can get the boat and a car in or out without moving both of them. Oh yeah and cutting down the tree the previous owner had right in front of the open portion of the barn! The center section will be for storage and mechanical work, the left side once closed in will be parking for my truck and the right side will be turned into my fiberglass area. I can actually build parts without getting everything else covered in gel-coat and fiberglass mat!

Craig, this is Jay...I want to relinquish my place to the next person behind me and fall back to the end of the list.I' ve got some money concerns...and I would gladly allow the next person to me get the place where they could get their hood.
I still want one though; don't want to hold up the progress. Mr.Jay B.Britt,Jr.

Thanks, I'm working on framing in the inside right now to get the insulation up and the interior walls. The gas company is supposed to be out next Monday to quote me on one or two heaters for the place. The big center section will be for boat and car storage plus wrenchin'. The side I'm working on right now will be the smaller area I use to do the fiberglass work. All of the rafters are on 4' centers and the main uprights are on an 8' center. I'm converting them all over to 2' centers. Lot of work and winters quickly approaching!

Are you still making hoods? How much? Would like to get a bolt on one for my '70. How many people are in line? How much do they weigh?

    Thanks,
    Tim

The car looks great Da Torquester!

Craig, great job on the hood. I'm still hanging in there on your list for when you start making the hoods again.
