Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

Here is a link to the car your talking about on ebay

    Buick GSX Stage1 4 Spd..............

Paul I am not sure I understand your question. Do you think the price of this car is to high or to low ?
I personally think the car will not bring the 160k price tag in this current economy. That said there are many buyers out there looking that do in fact have the money and means to buy this car. it would take 120k to most likely do this car... probably 45-50k to buy a restorable car then most likely 70-80k to have someone restore it. Just think pay all that and you get to look at it in your garage.... Do not dare drive it you would run the cars value down.... to me its a waste to restore these cars and not drive them.

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

    Me.....think it's all economics based.

Someone who may need to "bail" and looking to see what potenial buyers can afford, is all.

I know this company, they have another place in Atlanta.

I almost bought a sweet GS from them, I talked with them many times on the phone, real nice folks and they know there stuff.

    They carry real nice vehicles.

As I said I almost bought a car from them, I was about to fly down there when I came across the car I own now.

EDIT: Sorry all, that car is not at Streetside, I think it was at one time though. I just looked and they no longer have it, or the one they had was real close to this one (in price and everything).

Yes it is at RK Motors

That's a really nice car. I don't think I've ever seen a bucket seat consolette 4-speed without the shorty console between the seats.

However, I do agree that the price might have been appropriate several years ago or perhaps several years from now (hopefully). For what it took to redo that car properly (believe me, I have an idea), it's going to be hard to get that money back out.

I like the nice write up, except the words "investment grade". That definitely takes the wind out a Buick enthusiast's sails....

Ken, not to hijack the thread, but how difficult is it to maintain a car like your X? I mean, do you have to climb under it all the time and wipe stuff down? Does it prevent you from driving the car the way you like? Just curious.

Hopefull before Im back in diapers, I want to answer these questions for myself with thr Aquamist car

Hey Jason, first of all, it's impossible to resist driving it. That being said, I probably have only put on 250 miles in the last 16 months. I use a california car duster and detail spray with microfiber on anything I can reach. Nick taught me a neat trick to use a swiffer duster under the hood and in hard to reach places. Does a great job of picking up dust- cheap and effective.

The car was at Nick's recently and he had it on the lift and cleaned the bottom. He described it as "filthy". In Nick-speak that's pretty clean to the rest of the world, but definitely not as-built. He wiped it all down in fairly short order. The lift is a major plus!

When cleaning it or doing anything on it I remove any metallic objects (belt buckle, cell phone, wedding ring, watch) just so as to not risk scratching it, including underside components. Other than that, when I have people in it I remind them that it's an old car and to take it easy on it- no slamming the bucket seats forward, step over the sill plates, etc. I don't think I'm too much of a pain in the butt, but a little teaching of respect goes a long way.

Definitely no wet roads and try to avoid any sand blasting by keeping distance from cars in front.

Oh yeah, and I catch a nice junk of rubber in second gear at least once every time I drive it. In fact, after a show last week I stop light raced a '70 Chevelle 454 with a lumpy cam and free flowing exhaust. Not the smartest thing, but sometimes you can't resist.

All that said, I believe my car still qualifies as "investment grade" in anyone's book!

    Paul,
This car has a lot of surface rust underneath, will also need trunk floor, possibly both main floor pans and both quarters with outer wheelhouses . This is also non numbers matching motor and trans.
This will require a major investment to restore, and you probably won't recoup your expenses in doing this major restoration, especially with the market being so far down.
If I was looking for a GSX I would let someone else take the loss on a restoration and buy one done.

I don't want it,actually do not like 4spd cars, and would much rather prefer an auto. Was just posting this as many here keep saying how 4spd X's are worth millions, and this one does not seem to be flying off the shelf, even as a resto project.
As you said about the rust issues with this car, yeah I can seee it needing quite a bit.Whoever comes to inspect my 70 Stage1 project I am selling should be thrilled when they see how the flloors and trunk are and how solid and NOT rusty it is,NTM,comes with NOS 1/4's and NOS rear outers, and NOS rad support !!!

    1. There should not be a hyphen (-) between the ST70 44637
    2. Build week should be three digits
    3. It looks like the lettering is not defined and crisp like originals and the body # font looks too small next to BDY.

This is strictly my opinion from looking at the pic. I have not seen the car in person, and it looks like a very well done car, but the cowl tag is suspect in my opinion.

It says documented, so lets hope there is an explanation. Is "investment grade" derogatory? More fun than stocks and bonds.
