That is a '81 Regal w/a '87 front end. There are more pic's of it on the V8 Regal under MY Sons Regal tread. Thanks Don
The cam is the GSCA "Hemi Killer", if I find the cam card I'll post the numbers. This is the second cam like this I've had in this engine, this one is more radical than the first one. Maybe I got a wilder one.
The hood is Painted!!!! I used the stencil kit from Phoenix Graphics. It didn't fit well, so I cut the sides off both edges and laid them on. the hard part is the stencil is white vinyl and the paint is white and the lines cut into the vinyl are hard to see. You can't tell if the lines are straight until you pull out the strip for the red, then it's to late to correct them. When I put the side stripes on (which will be easier) I'll use a marker and straight edge to highlight the pin stripe in them. Also Phoenix should make one stencil for the center of the hood, so you don't have to match up to impossible to see stripes. Mine didn't match, but I MacGyvered them with a razor and tape:laugh: I painted the red yesterday afternoon, and unmasked them this morning. Went back to my shop this afternoon and prept and painted the black at around six, went back over at 8:30 and unmasked everything. The back is shinier than I wanted (thought I had enough flattener in the clear) but it will do. I can't get my computer to load the images from the camera, so I'll post pics later.
I have the same cam in my Buick Sounds great Very snappy GSCA Hemi Killer Mine was a REED grind Mr lasitter helped me pick it out
Major or minor setback today. I started the car last night for a quick drive down the street with the hood on and when I turned on the lights the car died and all the electrical was off. Came back today and found that the wire that goes from the starter to the ignition switch had a major melt down. It got hot enough to melt the tape wrapping into. I have another new engine wiring harness, but don't want to melt it also with out find what is wrong. I don't have a clue. the wire that melted is white with purple and orange cross tracers resistor wire. It is white at the firewall block and splices to yellow to the starter and pink to the positive side of the coil. I also have MSD dist and 6AL box. Any Ideas?
Man that sounds like a short to meltdown the ignition circut also sound like you took out a fusable link down by the starter, to loose all power. I hate it when yo LET THE SMOKE OUT, fuses shoudd protect body circuts , If they are all melted it may be dificult to find a short most likely if routed through the original routing someware down along the block in the wire holder that the harness sits in on right in front of the starter , or wires pinched some were along the routing ,
I have a new appreciation for the factory stripes on a GSX. After masking and masking again, I shot the red pinstripes today, hope they look descent after I spray the black.
The stripes will be great Don, just like the rest of the car! Just finished wiping down "Mufasa" for the car show tomorrow....see you there!
Friday I sprayed the red pinstripes. Judged a car show on Sat. (Curtis Roys car is NICE!!!!!!) Picked up a Demon 850 from Scott Roys, and watched it rain hard for the rest of the day. Sunday, prepped the car for the black stripes and watched it rain again. Today I went over to my shop at 6:30, quick wipe down on car shot base, then clear, waited 45 min and started unmasking. I'm pretty much pleased with the stripe job, but had one semi major screw up. I missed covering one section of red:spank: :ball:. Here's pics
looks very nice I think the red was a nice accent to the stripe , I did mine the same color as the strip thinking the red would blendin to much with the black cherry , it might have But my car is Only a GS 455 Not A real GSX Very nice job ,
Thanks Don....have fun with the carb, and......... OUCH! -(maybe to many blueberry pancakes?) but I know if anybody can fix it..you can!
It's been a year since the X was back running. I've changed pushrods, governor in trans, mufflers, and put the original 10 bolt 3.42 rear back in. I've been working on the A/C system today. I'll put the X in the Greentree Country Club car show on the 4th of July, and also judge again this year.
Might have to change from a 2004r auto to a 4 or 5 speed set-up. Still trying to decide how to go with all the different drive tran combos between the GSX and GS
