Gsx tach grommet

    They used that for all the 70-71 cars, and most of the 72 cars regardless of whether it had an in-dash tach or a hood tach. As a matter of fact the Pontiacs used them all the way thru 1978.

    Many times the steel "fingers" rust off and they fall off the car. I have been reproducing them for years. The ones I make are all rubber with a mushroom head that pushes into the firewall instead of the steel fingers. They look identical on the outside and work better then the originals.

    Duane, is it not also used on the 69”s with consolette tach? I never cross referenced the 69/70 part# but I assumed same.

    I believe you are correct. It may also have been used in 68 but would need to check.

    I restored a friends 72 Hurst Olds which used similar grommet as this. Car has cruise control and more crap had to go through that grommet. I think the Olds hood release cable went through that as well. Had to do some cutting. The Grommet for cruise wasn’t available.
