Woke up at 4:30 and decided to go the local only-one-in-the-county giant crazy fireworks store.
Stopped and got gas first. Left my credit card in the gas pump. aagh!
Five people in line to get into the fireworks store at 4:55 (honest -- checked my phone.)
Place was picked over pretty well -- very similar to a Publix before a hurricane. Crazy. Gonna be empty by noon.
Realized I had lost my credit card when I got to the register -- knew just where it was. Had another so I paid and left.
Bought the deputy behind me some fireworks while I was at it. Good karma.
By the time I cleared out at 5:45 -- 20 person line to get in.
Got back to the gas station. Go inside and ask if anyone had turned in a credit card. Cashier says "no, but my.machine says its still out there." It was -- a full hour after I had pumped gas.
    Gonna be a good Fourth!

Happy 4th. Today I changed the oil in two Buicks 50 years apart. Who else can say they did that?

It was going good until you stated you allegedly bought the Deputy behind you his fireworks. Question? Was he in uniform, did he know what you did? I smell BS here based on past postings! If I am wrong and you did. God Bless!

    That is seriously offensive.

I don't give enough to charity and I sm blessed in many ways. So I give money when I feel like it. To Rick, the legless homeless guy who lives at 95 and Davie. To the small church on my bike ride to work that has a food distribution every Tuesday. And yes, to some random cop at a fireworks store.

Anyway, guy behind me in line was a uniformed Broward sherriff's deputy, on the force for 20 years (he said he'll bag it after 25). Was carrying his stuff so I let him put it on my cart, since the line was 20 minutes. Told him I'd let him go in front of me, since no one likes it when a cop pulls in behind them.

Headed to the register with his stuff on my cart. He was confused, I told him I was buying. He wanted to shake my hand after the stuff was rung up, but that still wierds me out, and he laughed and we just bumped elbows instead.

Heck, I got a nice LEO discount on his stuff and mine, so there is that. I can post my CC receipt which shows 2 different purchases 2 minutes apart if you want, but really, c'mon.

Amazing how all the conspiracy throrists are willing to believe anything they read without any realistic confirmation on obviously sketchy websites as long as it conforms to their world view, but can't take my word on something because our opinions don't match.

Rechecking all my posts to see where I said I hate cops. Haven't had any luck yet. Maybe you can find it..

The REAL question on July 5th:

Everybody still got all their fingers?

Random acts of kindness are what we need more of; not less. We often focus on the big news stories and feel like the world is falling apart. Going out of your way to be kind to someone regardless of how they are dressed is what separates us as a civilized society and hopefully as a country. Its amazing how that little act of kindness will change your and their day. My guess is there will be more to follow after others read this....

Looks like MRP removed his doors and front clip carefully and not with mortars, roman candles, or M-80s..

I just remember years ago having a cherry bomb prove quite useful for removing the door from a counter-top oven ...

    Sweet ride, bro

20200705_151239.jpg Oh look -- a receipt from my wallet, early A.M. on 04 July.

Now, I don't have a receipt for what I bought the cop, since he needed his receipt to exit the store, but mine does show a suspicious "other discount" of $35.46 at the bottom.

(Start scene: Professor at school lecturing class)
Professor: "Class, you can see the discount on this receipt. Does anyone know what that would be for? Remember, this just for some average schmoe, not anyone with connections."
(Class is silent, except that know-it-all Steve kid)
(Steve raises hand) "Ooh, I know! I know! Pick me! Pick me!"
    (Prof rolls eyes)
    "yes, Steve, what's the answer?"
" It's the LEO discount he got because he bought fireworks for the sherrif's deputy!".
"Yes, that is right. Now, does anyone know what Steve is owed?"
(Whole class in unison) "An apology!"
    (End scene)
