Car in question 1970 Skylark hardtop. I have a new PUI headliner and sailpanels. Pretty sure I have decided on installer. I have my headliner bows, but I can't seem to find my headliner clips from disassembly. Planning on getting new . Rock Auto has center clips and side clips...... HOW MANY OF EACH DO I NEED? Thanks, Jim/Rott
Should be the same as a Chevelle: One at the center overhead lamp is different to hold the wiring. If you have dual lights in the sail panels that is not applicable. https://www.npdlink.com/store/products/chevelle_clip_set_headliner_listing_wire_bow-177849-7091.html for the normal four. https://www.npdlink.com/store/produ...liner_listing_wire_bow_repro-177851-7091.html for the retainer one. Funny; I thought there were six bows. I'm not at the shop to check...
Appreciate the link. My bows are hanging in the garage. I need to see if I bagged the original clips. My car has sail panel courtesy lights so I won't need the center clip. Thanks again, Jim
PLEASE tell me you marked the original holes in the roof panel with the corresponding number on the bows! (like #3 bow in the middle hole on driver and forward hole on passenger) PLEASE!!! If not you are in for a LOT of fun arranging bows for correct tension. I know from experience...
Total of 5 bows, found my clips in storage ziplocked and labeled from disassembly. Strangely enuff, I have both styles. Car is 70 Skylark 2 dr ht. without dome light ,has sailpanel courtesy lights. I'll post a pic of my clips later today. ........Jim
I numbered them front to rear and took pics of the holes which bows were in. There are 3 holes available at each bow end , so I felt the pics where a must... I'm farming this project out, aside from engine machine work, it will be the only thing I have not done during the restoration. I will be able to fly the "Built not Bought" sticker with pride.....Jim
Here are the clips I removed from car during disassembly. Faces up: Faces down: Hope this helps someone in the future. .....Jim
LOL. Actually you have one style up and the other style down, and vice-versa. But at least you got them in a picture as reference. The upper set is used to retain the wiring for the light; the lower set is used for non-wiring areas. You CAN use the wiring style in any location.
Steve, that is apparently what the line workers at Framingham plant did, because I have no domelight in my 70 Skylark just the twin sailpanels and I have a combination of the two styles of clips....Jim
