I’ve owned several Buick’s in the past a 54 two door 55 two door century a 58 four-door special and a 64 Riviera. My 55 Buick Century two door needs a motor and tranny I’ve been contemplating on putting a 425 with an auto Tran out of a 64 Riviera motor swap w/ open driveline and rear end swap. Will the 425 motor W/Tran fit? I know there will be wielding and cutting involved. If any of you guys have done this before advice and tips would be greatly appreciated. thank you Robert at Buick time
I installed a '59/401 in my '55 Special MANY years ago. Since I've been a mechanic for just about my whole life to me the engine swap was a BOLT-IN swap. The rest of the drivetrain was as original like the H/D 6 bolt top cover trans. & the rear end. IF you are going to put in the TH400 from the '64 Riv. also you will need to fab up a trans. mount & convert to an open diff. Part of the diff conversion would to remove the stock center section & use a '61-'62 center section in your rear or even better yet swap in the whole rear that I have or use the one from the Riv.
