enter and on the scroll on the left bottom is 68-72 skylark hoods/accessories, etc.

i'm looking to buy a 72 GS hood for my regular 72 Skylark and I stumbled across this site. They reproduce the hoods either in fiberglass or the way it was originally?

to the experts (which is all of you :) :

have you dealt with this site before? what was the result of what you ordered/do you think it's a good place to get a hood, or do you have better?

also, whats the difference in getting fiberglass, beside it being cheaper, which is currently leaning in my favor, lol

thanks for the help in advance :)

    Whelp...

There's no holes for the scoops in the GS hood that I can see, and the hood, scoops, and scoop grilles are all one pices- the scoop grilles have chrome accents on a 'real' hood.

You need to use special light-rate hood springs in your hinges when you use the fibreglass hoods, and unless you use hood pins, you need to put a hood striker plate in the fibreglass hood.

I've never dealt with them, although it certainly is an attractive alternative to affordable rusty parts or cost prohibitive rust free good parts. But you can't just bolt on that hood.

If I were an expert on anything, I'd still have a job:laugh:

I think all glass hoods are that way, you have to cut out the holes to put in your hood scoops and grills in. They don't have the slots across the cowl either.

Don't know about about that site... but I cross checked their prices with what VFN charges and VFN looks to be less expensive. Although, VFN doesn't have a bolt on glass deck lid.

Havent done buisness with either one. but I was planning on VFN when I get the new hood and fenders.

Well, maybe just the hoods. I recall VFN saying that they would have to put an extra layer of glass for "street use" for an additional $50 (can't rember if that was total for both or each).

I guess it'd boil down to quality then.

Anybody with any first hand experiance??

The scoupes are molded right in with the hood (like you said). But I haven't seen anywhere the actual Scoupe Grills are repoped. You may be able to find some factory grilles for sale somewhere and make those work. I never inquired about those as I was going the Stage 2 route:grin:

With enough time and fiberglass... You can make anything work:pp

You can email VFN and ask them specific questions, thats how I found out about the fenders. Ask them if the bolt on hood has the mounting points for Factory Scoupe Grills. If it does then you shouldn't have any problem finding some around here:TU:

I also heard somewhere that glass hoods (bolt on) need a Striker plate (??) where the latch bolts on, Might want to look into that to.

    Good Luck
