I purchased my 455 from a gentleman that did not know what I came from. All I know is its a 75' 455. I'm trying to figure what all the ports are for. I would greatly appreciate any help ID'ing them. See pic. I'm not sure where the hot air choke line goes as well has the port on the rear of the intake.
On a Q-jet, it is the front of the carburetor. Stock, it is a molded line that goes around the passenger side of the carburetor and plugs into the PCV valve. You can use 3/8" fuel line hose if you like. http://www.taperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TA_1240D
I'd expect filtered air would be pulled from the rear of the carb via 5/16 or 3/8 formed-steel tubing. It would enter the choke stove in the intake manifold, get heated, and then exit the choke stove via another formed-steel tube which connects to the choke housing on the carb. I don't have Buick pictures, but here's some from Chevy and Pontiac. Note that the connection between tubing and choke housing is an orange, HIGH TEMPERATURE silicone hose. They turn brown over time. (It does not show up well in this photo.) In the case of this Pontiac system, the connection to the choke housing is with a flare and flare nut, not high-temperature hose. In both cases, the hose at the back of the carb is "nothing special" since the air hasn't been heated yet. There are any number of engines where the heat stove for the choke isn't in the exhaust crossover of the intake manifold, it's in the exhaust manifold. Not so common on V-8s, more typical on inline fours and sixes.
