That right there, while it seems up front, is really some devious advertising. I would be willing to bet my salary that 95 of 100 people would look at that sicker and assume it is 100% made in USA. The truth is the manufacturer knows that as well, with that big American flag selling that false assumption. Buyer beware has always been true and today more than ever. I also love the "Distributed by..." labels and the "Assembled in.." labels. In my opinion, unless it is made in USA with materials FROM and SOURCED in the USA, it shouldn't have a big American flag on it. If all the material is flown in from China and Mexico or Turkey or wherever, and the only thing we do here is bolt it together, then I'm sorry but that is no better than having a crankshaft in my Buick which was forged in USA with steel imported from China. I guess it all depends on how one defines "made in". On the positive side, the label at least tells the true story as long we're astute enough to recognize what it is saying.

I like the ‘Designed in USA, manufactured in China’. I think that’s Apple.

I can tell you a few things that may make it less "devious". Please don't read this like I'm being a jerk, I'm only trying to inform you of the logic.

I was a Mac dealer for almost 10 years. All Mac tool boxes and some of their carts are made in columbus ohio. They are stamped, welded, powdercoated and assembled there.

The drawer rollers are sourced third party and i believe are usa made.

The emblems and drawer trim and liners come from across the pond from a third party.

The casters are also third party and i can't remember if they are made in the usa or not.

There are a lot of parts and sources involved. Take it for what it is

Yep I hear you. I get cynical with labels. All I ask if full disclosure. I can't tell you how many products say "distributed by such and such, in USA". But me personally, I don't care what company trucks it I care where it came from when the container was taken off the cargo ship on Port Elizabeth.

Every new American made car fits this category. You should see my Hellcat Window sticker. Made in Canada, engine source USA, transmission Germany. It’s not going to change.

My ‘85 El Camino was assembled in Mexico with a Canadian built engine along with a bunch of US parts.

I've also seen products proudly marked "Made in the USA" and in the fine print you see they were assembled here but the individual items were manufactured offshore. It beats nothing I suppose, but is definitely marketed a bit deceptively as an entirely domestic product. But it seems rare to find a wholly domestic product these days, it's a global economy and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I understand the "global economy" thing, but what is it exactly makes it low quality, or is it a cumulative effect of circumstances that makes low quality?
    Is it the human?
    Is it the equipment?
    Is it the materials?
    Is it training?
    Is it pay?
    Education?
I watch a lot of the Science Channel, on "Engineering Disasters" episodes, I see failures of roadways, buildings, structures, and huge machines from all types of countries.
Even at work, so called "Techs" just going through the motions, and don't really understand the hows and whys of what they're doing:rolleyes:

Picked up an apple juice container and it said:
Made from concentrate from globally sourced apples:( It used to say concentrate from Chinao_O
We don't grow enough apples in this country to make our own juice?

I try not to buy food that is globally sourced but some of the labels do not clearly state where its from, they just say "distributed by" or "packaged for".

I was talking to the waiter on the cruise we were just on and he said the shrimp are from India, the lobster from Malaysia, almost nothing from USA. I was afraid to ask where the beef and chicken came from.

I believe that all of Mopar's RWD cars are like that. You have to remember that the platform was designed when Daimler-Benz owned Chrysler. My '05 Magnum was built in Brampton, Ontario. The Tranny is (I believe) pretty much the same as was used in M-Bs of that era. A lot of the rear suspension and differential are essentially M-B, but made of steel instead of the MBs aluminum for cost reasons. My Magnum turned 143,000 miles this AM and is still going strong. It has been a very good car (Except for the crappy Seimans radio which I replaced after multiple failures).

On the last Holland-America cruise that the bride and I took, the hotel manager told us that HA tries to source as much food as possible in the USA for quality reasons.

A few years back some company made up a batch of Pens for the new US Senate. They came through saying
UNTIED States of America. It was all over the news.

I see a lot of places selling US flags for the upcoming holidays, most made in China.

"Made in Canada" is not a bad thing, just saying.

Years ago, when I'd buy brake drums at the parts store, I ALWAYS chose "Made in Canada" over "Made in Argentina" drums.

Or maybe sooner than you think?

Had a pres. from a previous administration say "those jobs will never come back, what does he have a magic wand to get them back?"
Well he must have a magic wand then because over 400,000 of those jobs are back out of the 4 million that were added just in the last 2 years with more on the way!
