    Hi,
my name is Markus. I live near Berlin (Capitol of Germany). I did not own a Buick car, but we have an Buick 300 V8 in a 1961 Chevrolet Corvair Truck. We did not build it, we bought it with this conversion. The owner of the truck is my wife, I'm only the mechanic [IMG].

The engine is a 1966 or 67 300 with iron heads and intake (2bbl of course). There is a ST400 behind the 300.
We bought a 1964 engine with a damaged rod, this engine has aluminium heads and 2bb intake we want to bolt on our engine.
If I can find a aluminium 4bbl intake we will change to that one, maybe. I read many pros and cons, so I'm not shure to get the 4 bbl. I have more experience with 4bbl than 2bbl carbs.

We want saving weight on the Corvair front suspension, thats why we change to the aluminium parts. My wife don't need much more performance.
I'm thinking about to switch the ignition from points to magnetic of hall effect.
We also have to build headers for this application.

My personal car is a 1955 Chevrolet 150 with Posi Trac rear, Muncie trans and a 355 sbc (408 HP).
I'm working on american cars since 1994 when I was 20 years old.
My father worked for GM here in Berlin, they produced engine bearings and other parts here. In 1990 the factory closed.
My first american car was a 1969 Chevrolet El Camino, followed by some traditional Hot Rods Ford Model A's.

Advertise to purchase the one year only aluminum intake under "Parts Wanted".

In the 60s I had a job that required me to haul heavy amusement games in the Ford equivalent truck called "Econoline". I used to say that we flew it because the front wheels only occasionally made road contact. [IMG]

This is the Buick 300 with iron heads and intake, in a few weeks I will switch to the aluminum versions. I decode the tag on the carb, the Rochester 2GC carb is from a 66-67 Pontiac engine.

flynbuick, thats a rough condition Ford. These are rare here, same with Corvair or Dodge. Our modified Corvair is a one only version. Here in Europe you will find a handfull of these Trucks or Vans.

Another thing that still sticks with me, is, while driving, how close your face is to the inside of the front windscreen.

The "monster" shifter has to go, we will use a "normal" shifter

From the pic it looks like every time its shifted out of park the mirror would get moved if it is shifted with hand on shifter handle!

The Econoline I drove was something like that except I had a taller shifter than yours.

The shifter has enough space, the mirror is more in front of the windshield. The shifter has no reverse lockout.

Looking at the picture of your 300, as long as nothing was changed it is a 66

I don't know if 66 or 67. I can't find the two letters. The pre owner gave us no information, he only said it is a Buick 300.
The oil filter is relocated to fit in the Corvair.

The 67’s had a different style valve cover as long as they haven’t been changed it’s a 67

Block casting no. is 1374871, but this is not a specific year.
I found an engine id in front of the block under the driver side head. There is some old paint on it, so I can't read it clearly.

Here is a pic of a 67, you can see the valve cover difference.

OK, I found the engine code. Surprise. It is an 1965 std engine, engine code is LL.
