For this issue, priority #1 should be to get a multi meter. You don't have to spend $500 either, you can purchase a cheap one at sears for $20. I have a very expensive meter that I use at work, but I have the craftsman meter at home. If I need to check sensitive stuff I bring my Fluke meter home to test with. GET A METER
Marty,Thanks for the "get a meter" encouragement! I have one. It's not at the house....it's at another location. So,when I get over there,I'll pick it up,bring it to the house and check the voltage. Okley dokley?
Nope,Phil. Removed it from vehicle and had it tested. Got Wells vr715,popped off the plastic top,put Delo Remy cap in place of the plastic cap . Voltage at battery and alternator correct. No hissing. Fixed.
