Sent you a pm. My car was painted a few years back and now having problems with the paint.

The body shop guy cut the core support and the gaps are looking much better. While it's there I also have them replacing the driver door hinges and the rear glass and windshield (unrelated to the deer incident). Depending on when the glass arrives, I may have it back again by 2/14.

Oh hey, thanks for asking! I have hesitated on posting because I'm really not thrilled with how things turned out. The car was actually finished back in March. Unfortunately, because the driver door and fender were painted at a different time from the rest of the car, I can see a very slight difference in shading between the door and the quarter panel. I'm strongly considering taking the car to Hugger (he's only a little over an hour away from me) and letting him repaint the whole thing (let's see if he's watching this thread. ;) )

On top of that, the shop did not reinstall my electric fan assembly correctly and one of the fans was rubbing my radiator hose - fortunately I caught that before it completely went through the hose. They also broke the wire to the fan temperature sender and did a very poor job of splicing it back together, so it was only operating intermittently. There were also bolts missing between the inner and outer fender on the passenger side. So all in all, even though I think they did a good job on the body work, I'm dissatisfied with the overall job and I don't want to go back there.

I HATE hearing stories like this, I don’t know if I’m getting pickier or just not tolerating incompetence. I’m a painter in a body shop, and I see it all the time, bodymen that shouldn’t be doing bodywork, let alone mechanical and electrical repair:rolleyes:
Same with “Prima Donna” painters, they’re more like paint applicators, “ I didn’t get paid to do that, thats too much work, I’m not doing a spray out”
Dull finishes, dirt, sags, runs, color mismatcho_Oo_O
And they NEVER get dirty, they’re more concerned about their appearance than what the job looks like, they have all the latest wiz bang guns, tools and such but their jobs still look like ****.
We had a painter that had 7 or more guns, “ Mark, I just bought this new 800 dollar Sata, I can’t get it dialed in, wanna try it and see if you have any luck?”
I did fine with it, brought the pattern in, reduced the fluid a tad, and boom, sprayed clear nice.
I could go on and on, but there’s a SEVERE lack of pride, and knowledge in the collision repair industry,
Yeah I know, insurance companies rule the roost here and they RUINED IT, same as they’re doing with the medical industry. Ok I better shut up now:mad:
