Every now and then it's time a for a big yard run, meaning hitting 5-6 big pick-a-parts in one day. Since my phone has a pretty decent camera on it I thought I'd share some pics.

These two 66 Toronados were complete, would have been a major score for a Toronado guy.

The brown one has taken a hit in the back at some point.

Someone who was digging around for the seat belt showed me the coolest thing. The steering column is telescopic, and slides in and out, with some spring resistance to it, very nice. You turn the knob in the middle to unlock the telescopic feature, then turn it back to lock it in place.

Still some old iron out there, but it's getting rarer and rarer.

I thought this car was cool, nice lines.. I bet there was a 440 in it at some point. The whole drive line was taken out.

There were also some other cars that I didn't get any shots of, 58 Edsel 4-door, 66 Impala 4-door (completely stripped), 50's Packard.

I did buy one of the air filter boxes from the Toronados, looks really cool with dual snorkels. Maybe I'll use it on the Wildcat, we'll see.

Dang, I was just going to ask you if there were any dual snorkel air cleaners, and what heads were on the motors.

That looks like a beautiful yard. Everything in Chicago here has been crushed or stripped bare it seems. We're savages fightin over rotten meat. all that's left are 80's cars and a 76-79 every now and then. Most rusty of course.
When I was a kid all the yards looked like that one. Now that I can buy the parts, they are gone.

What yard is that? I'll pass the word along. That Blue one looks like a 72 Delta 88.

If you ever get the opportunity, go through route 70 in NM. I couldn't believe the yards through there around the Roswell area.

There is one still left on the other car :Brow: although some surface rust.

Someone had lifted a head on the brown car, but left it. The cylinders looked a bit rusty too, I bet the car has been sitting for a while. Both had a birds nests in the front right corner under the hood, lots of hay tucked in there. The yard will have half price on Sat-Sun Jan. 18-19 I think it is. It's out the 10 from Los Angeles, about 40 miles, take a right on Milliken right before the 15. I hope some Toronado guys get their hands on those cars, lots of good parts!!! It started raining so I left with the air cleaner (I'll get a pick of it tomorrow), but I'm sure some parts could be re-sold. There aren't alot of old cars around, you'll ususally see something old, but finding a car that you're after only comes around every few months.

    Engines still in the TOROS?

Yep, both. One head has been losened in the brown car, the other was intact until I took the air cleaner off. I think they've been sitting for a while though, the brown cars cylinders would need a good clean ,maybe bore, to get back into shape again.

That old blue Fury looks straight and rust free. Too bad it wound up being scrapped. Reminds me of the '72 Fury wagon my family had back in the 70s.

Kimson... where was that Edsel?!!! PLEASE provide the yard name and location. I live close by (Ventura County) and would like to see what's left. My Dad's had his '58 Edsel as a daily driver since he got it in '65 (my Skylark's year) and keeps spare parts on hand for emergencies.

Also, is there a Pick Your Part closer to us than the Ecology in Riverside County?

Funny thing about the edsel was that it was sitting amongst the GM stuff. It's not much left of it, all trim pieces gonzo, new motor, but there could always be something. Someone had written 58 Edsel on it with a marker, and it looked like one in the front so I believe it was. The number for the yard is: 909 877 6934, it's out the 10, past the 15. The exit is Riverside/Rialto, exit right, go until you hit a little crest, turn left and you'll see it.
There are about 13 pick a parts in the greater L.A. area, three in Long Beach, two in the valley, and the rest out the 10.

The Tilt / Telescope wheel was available on lux models from GM in the sixties and seventies. Came standard I believe on Caddys. Certain Olds cars, like the Toro, had it as an option. My girl has a 66 Toro (hibernating in Phoenix :ball: ). It's been so long since I've seen the car, I don't know if it has the telescoping column but it does have the tilt.

    Cool car.

Maybe I could fit that telescoping thing to the Cat.... It was all smooth moving, very nice.

    Thanks Kimson.

Sounds like it's at the Ecology that I used to visit. I just passed that place twice yesterday to visit my folks. Shame on me for not stopping there. :Do No:
