I went and looked at this car yesterday.

I hate to even tell much about it as I feel I'll be throwing the owner "under the bus" but.......

    According to the owner:
The original Motor and rear end are gone. Car now has a 12 bolt and a recently rebuilt 1970 455.

It is a real GSX from what I could see. (And has the Q Q Paint Code) Padded steering wheel still there, GSX Dash plaque still there, Gauges, Speedo w/Speed alert and Military Clock still there. Front Spoiler was missing and Rear Spoiler was cracked as was the Hood Tach. Dash was beat up by the Radio area. Dash and clusters will need total resto. Chrome was pretty much faded away and the lenses were "milky". Radio was missing.

To put it mildly this GSX needs some work and in my opinion the asking price is way off base. Original hood has been replaced with a 71 or 72 version. Some Rust issues. (Back window, part of the trunk, core support (battery area), and passenger side door is smashed.) One of the 15" wheels for some reason was rusty also but may clean up.

Car does not run at this point but motor was recently rebuild. Probably going to need new engine harness as the original one was a mess to say the least.

The owner did say he had some room on the price but to offer what it's "probably" worth would have been miles away from his asking price of 30k.

I was excited on the way to see it then bummed out after leaving as this is a Real GSX that right now is in desperate need of a full restoration and the current owner is in no position to fund the proper resto. It's sad to see a GSX in this condition. Hopefully it finds a good home unfortunately if the owner doesn't rethink his asking price it will sit there and deteriate even more.

Todd thanks for the report on the car. To me you had the Baddest GSX on the planet (so what if it was never born a real GSX..)
I so wish I would have been in a position to buy your LS powered GSX when it was for sale. That has got to be one of my all time favorite Buicks.

NOT AT 30K There are other GSX project cars for less. all I need is a body thats a real GSX I dont care about numbers or a drive train for that matter I just want a shell !!

At 30k the seller is WAY over priced. Thats my opinion and we all know what thats worth :laugh::laugh::laugh:

    Agreed. :gp:

Funny how things have changed in just a few years. Does anyone else remember that trashed GSX that went for $65k? It was in far worse shape than this one.

The cost of the restoration would probably be greater then the value

. But as wayne carini says , it's not worth anything but it can't be worth nothing ? I hope someone saves it .

This car could easily be saved although it's not a 4 Speed so value would take a bit of a hit there and drivetrain would not be matching #'s except the Turbo 400. However I feel that if the owner priced it right it could still be saved and a proper restoration could be done and still come in under the overall value of the car. Asking price of $30k is way off base though. Hopefully it finds a proper home.

Too bad it's not a Chrysler. Even in it's present condition, it would be a $50K car. I'll never understand that with MOPAR people.

According to the current owner of the car which is the Nephew of the original owner the car spent all of it's life in Long Beach California. Paperwork and receipts that were shown to me when I viewed the car do help verify this as well as the mileage which I feel is original. He had receipts from automotive shops that did work on the car and the milage was written in on some of those invoices from way back in the 90's.

This car has to be worth at least somewhere in the mid 20's. I would say if someone threw 10-15k for some detail/mechanical work and a respray there is money left in the car. Do you guys think the condition is hurting the car or the fact that its not matching numbers

Guy can't restore but is able to accept too much money for the car. Lots of those scenarios around.

The little bit of rust this car has can be fixed and without replacing any major body panels.

The car had an alarm system wired in at one time and therefor the engine bay (mainly the wiring harness) looks like a disaster.

The car spent all it's life in California but while sitting for the last few years under a building that leaked took it's toll on the rear window area and driver side trunk floor. Otherwise this is a nice solid car.

The biggest problem is the guys asking price of 30k. That's to much considering the original engine is gone. Stage 1 Trans is still in the car. I didn't realize this until taking a 2nd look but it's there and has the tag on it that says: "70 - B B".
Trans Number also matches the 6 Digit Vin number so it's definately the correct Trans.

There was some confusion at first as to whether or not this was a Stage 1 car but upon further inspection it is. (according to the trans) Car had Chrome Valve covers as well. Built in Flint Michigan.

What is a Stage 1 GSX with a NOM motor worth these days? I think for 10k in parts and labor a smart shopping buyer could have a very nice X. would it get 50k finished?
