    Rick1,
There are no GM references that show what type plating parts received, something like that would make everyone's life too easy.
The 70-72 buick A-body hood latches were all plated yellow cad, and some other years also had this.

PS. To be absolutely correct the coiled springs should be taken out of the hood latches before plating. They were not plated yellow cad.

    Duane,

Should the pivoting part below the hood latch and the rod that goes between the two also be cad plated?

    Carl,
The rod, lower brace, and handle on the 70-72 cars were all gray phosphate coated. The rod also had a red stripe painted near the top so the guys on the assembly lines knew which way to mount it.

Now, this info is for the guys that believe me.

Duane,do you know what the correct color is for the handles on the `66-`67s?the latch itself is cad plated cause when i took the old bolts off the latch itself look like that goldish color.

    Thanks

    George,
I am not really up on the 66-67 parts, like I am on the 70-72 parts. I am sure someone else will chime in, like Walt K. or Jim Shiels.

I'd be curious to know if the 68-69's were cad plated as well. The deal Phil has going in the Bench area is too good to pass up.

If 65-67 were and 70-72 i would think 68-69 were too.

    Thanks

Better hurry if you want to get in on the plating. I kind of set a cutoff of March 15th to get them to me. This way I should be able to have them back in the mail by April 1st.

    Jim,

When I removed the latch from my '68 GS you could see the cad plating below the bolt heads. The previous owner painted the latch black without removing it from the car so the cad plating was left under the bolts.

    Mike,

Thanks for the heads up Mike. :TU: I drove over to the garage tonight and pulled mine out of the parts box and gave it a quick clean. Yeppers, there's plating under the black paint and grime. I gotta finish cleaning it up and send it off to Phil asap.

I have cleaned 2 of my 70 Flint built GS hood latches to determine exact plating and both are Gray Phosphate.
I inspected my 69 GTO hood latch and it is the same.
I just got it back from my plater and looks great.
Keep in mind different plants used different suppliers so depending on assembly plant plating could be different.
I replate accordingly to what I see on original fastener or part before I glass bead in preparation before part goes to plater.
