Has the hood tach found on the GSX been an option for a GS455 in 1971? I know you could get the spoilers on a standard GS.

I have an ugly in dash aftermarket tach that looks cheap and would love to replace it with a clock.
Then put a hood tach on the car.

    Thanks

Yes, in 1971 and 72 UB5 Hood tach could be ordered on any GS car.

Beginning January 4, 1971 via SCO, Flint cars ONLY. Window sticker $42.13. Don't know if any of these restrictions changed for '72...these restrictions true for front/rear spoilers, plus rear spoiler not available on convertibles (Model 3467).

Yes, in 1971 and 1972 any order for a WA6 rear spoiler, WA7 front spoiler or a UB5 hood tach were only built/ processed at the main /head Flint Michigan assembly plant.
If the car in question had any single one of these options or more it will have a very low body # on firewall body tag regardless of what time in the model year it was built. For example, a 72 GS 350 car ordered in spring of 1972 with a UB5 hood tach and a build date of 05B on cowl tag ( 2nd week of May 1972) will still have a low body # as if it was one of the first cars off the line in August of 1971.
SCO (Special Car Order)cars are ...special.
