So in an unexpected turn of events, I registered last night for the long haul. Figured screw it, may never get the chance again. Got a couple friends going as well from Norwalk to Indy, and my old mans gonna ride shotgun. If everything goes well to Indy we're gonna take a swing at doing the entire route. Guess I'd better finally fix the wipers on the car and maybe get a spare tire....
Shawn, get your rooms booked right away. You can always cancel later if you need to but some will already be full. We’re at mostly Best Westerns.
Yeah, thats the plan for tonight. We have rooms booked for the night before the kickoff, and after the Montgomery county stop we're staying at home since its only 30 minutes away. But from there I still need to make reservations.
The way this virus is playing out early June events may be at risk now too. I hope this is over by then.
I received intel from a sales rep at one of the host hotels for the Dayton stop that the organizers reached out to them last week and told them at the moment things are still slated to go on as planned. I'm a bit surprised to hear that, but I think in the next week or 2 we'll have a clearer picture. I'll be really bummed if it gets cancelled.
Well, we’re out now. The new dates don’t work for us. We were really looking forward to doing the Long Haul with the grandkids along. For others who maybe these dates work better for I can highly recommend HRPT!
End of august is gonna be a miserable time to do this event with long cruises. Temps will likely be 90+degrees and add in the 90+percent August humidity and you have the makings for a lot of broke down hot rods. Or at least a lot of old guys having sun burns and heat strokes! I remember all too well how much shade there was at National Trail.... I was really looking forward to this happening in June, now not so much...
