Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

My wife decided to go with 17" rims on her '71 Z/28. So, she is putting the 15X6 polished Torque Thrusts with P215/70-15 BFGs on the front of her '68 Nova SS and the 15X7s on the rear to replace all the 14" rallys with aged Coopers. The 15X7s currently have P275/60-15 BFGs. The tires will not fit the Nova. Rims have 3 1/2" backspacing I know many of you have Apollos/Venturas/Omegas/Novas. How big a tire can I safely tuck in there? It's not a race car. Just a cruiser.

I had a `70 Nova some years back with a 275/60-15 and 15x8 wheels with a 5.5" BS. I have to guess that if you are using a 15x7 wheel you will need at least a 4.5" BS.
