I am buying a 1975 Buick LeSabre, White/White/White convertible next month & researching to know as much about it as possible beforehand. I've known the owner and thus the car for a long time and look forward to doing the classic car thing. Engine is the 350, miles are low, condition is original/ un-restored/ well cared for. So wisdom and info, what am I getting myself into, what do I need to know, what will a 773 mile roadtrip cost me in driving it home?
You're getting yourself into a very fun hobby. Expect at least two full tanks of gas to get that home.
Welcome! Think about ‘smiles per gallon’, not mpg. Plan extra time at fuel stops, too. Everyone ‘had one just like it except it was different’! Patrick
I would expect about 70 gallons of gas, plus incidentals...flat tire, coolant hose, belt(s), oil, trans fluid, you get the picture.
This site has the 1975 Buick LeSabre with the 350 getting 12 city 16 hiway. If I did it right 773 miles divided by 16 gets you at 49 rounded up gallons used. https://afdc.energy.gov/files/pdfs/1975_feg.pdf You can expect to possiably get better millage or worse depending on state of tune, Oil in engine, and tire type and pressure. Welcome. Al
