‘89s with a 350 got 3.42s, (along with the roller cam from the tuned port 350s and bigger injectors in the throttle body). I’m not sure about ‘88.

very cool i started to buy an ltd or galaxy when i found this lesabre i bought the other day. i wanted a big car to cruise in and had cop car in mind until this popped up. i wasnt going to clone it up like a actual police car but was going to run the steel wheels and center caps and make it look plain jane.

oh hazard had a grand marquis for a bit as a police car. it was just a stock model with lights added which in those years only major difference was the springs and a oil cooler anyhow. we had several detective cars that had the full interior and chrome grill and the only way you could tell is if you spotted the cooler parked it beside a non p71 cause it set slightly higher or read the vin.

My dad worked for the US Forest Service in the ‘80s. They had an assortment of old Ramchargers, Fairmont wagons, little Cherokees and such for staff use. Dad’s law enforcement guys (yes, the FS needs them, especially with people growing dope in the National Forest) needed a couple of new cars. Dad called a few people and a couple weeks later two ‘86(?) Crown Vics arrived. Cop motor, cop shocks, cop tires (whole Blues Brothers’ schtick, but brand new). Apparently the Air Force had ordered them but got redirected. Dad said they were great driving cars.

I've had several Crown Vics. I much prefer the handling of the Caprices. Not as twitchy.
